Detailed Review

The Timberland Women's Skyla Bay 6-Inch Hiking Boot excels in several categories, making it a worthy addition to any woman's footwear collection. In terms of comfort, the cushioning technology incorporated into the design provides a plush feel that minimizes fatigue during lengthy wear. Many users have reported that they felt very little strain even after hours of walking.

When it comes to design, the Skyla Bay's aesthetic combines ruggedness with a modern touch; it's equally at home on a wooded trail or in an urban setting. The wheat nubuck leather not only contributes to its good looks but also enhances its durability, ensuring these boots stand up to daily wear.

In terms of environmental impact, you can feel good about your purchase knowing that Timberland uses responsibly sourced materials, which aligns with their commitment to sustainability. This aspect is increasingly important for modern consumers who wish to make mindful purchasing decisions.

However, it's worth noting that some wearers have experienced a slight break-in period to achieve maximum comfort, so be prepared for that if you decide to invest in these boots. Also, while the color selection may be limited, the classic wheat hue tends to pair well with a variety of outfits.

Fantastic for urban hiking/walking -- or if ankle padding in regular hking boots bugs you

I walk in my neighborhood about an hour a day, and I have comfortable sneakers which are great. But there are canals and levees I can walk beside and on, and I didn't do it because the grass is sometimes wet or tall, and my sneakers would get soaked or get dirty, plus twigs and whatnot would stick to my shoes and socks or even get inside my shoes. It was a pain.I ordered some hiking boots for this reason, and found the padding around the ankles of hiking boots is uncomfortable to me. I wear Skechers sneakers, so I even ordered Skechers hiking boots to be sure I got the right size and knew they would be comfortable ... and they weren't. That traditional hiking boot style is just not right for me!Then I saw these, and it looked like the padding was up higher than the ankles, and was not as thick as the ankle padding around regular hiking boots, so I wanted to give them a try. They are perfect! They were comfortable right out of the box. First day I walked 2 miles, and they were comfortable, no blisters, fantastic. I've worn them several days now, hiked along 2 levees, and they've been great. Water resistant, no twigs or pebbles getting in my shoes. Love them. You can tell in the photos, I don't lace them all the way to the top. Maybe my large ankles are the problem and not the hiking boots, but when I lace them to the top, I have to tighten them too much for comfort to have enough shoestring to tie them securely! But even with only lacing them up to the second eyelet, they are still perfectly comfortable and work great walking in wet grass, etc. No complaints.__** Update 6-6-23**Within a couple weeks I was easily able to lace them al the way to the top and tie them; the leather gave way a little, and now they are even more comfortable. I did add insoles, but overall still very comfortable and great for walking.___Based on the reviews here, I went up half a size. My Skechers are size 7, and I ordered these in size 7-1/2, and they fit perfectly. I also ordered hiking socks, whatever Amazon's choice was, and those are a must because my regular socks wouldn't be tall enough. My recommendation: buy these 1/2 size large and wear them with hiking socks. You will enjoy your walks! I don't actually do hiking in mountains and deserts, but for sort of urban hiking/walking, they're great!

Good waterproof walking for low arches

I bought these for my rainy walk heavy February Europe trip. I averaged 17,000 steps a day for a week in cobblestoned cities in unfortunately a lot of rain. My feet stayed dry and I had ZERO foot achiness. I wore with wool or boot socks every day, true to size, doesn’t run small for me like others have said. The black is stylish. I wore tied low as sneakers and tied high. The leather is very flexible. I am so happy with this purchase I’m just bummed they will be too hot to wear in summer.

Wildly comfortable & stylish hightops

I purchased a pair of these Timberland hightops several years ago at Academy, and hadn't found them in stock there again...figured they'd been discontinued.I took a chance that Amazon might have them, and Voila!! These are THE MOST comfortable shoes I've ever worn in the past 20 years. I used to wear 6.5/7, but because of bunions (I'm 65, if that helps), I now purchase boots/shoes in 7.5 or 8, and sandals in 7 or 7.5. I ordered theses in 7.5...perfection. I recently wore them while trudging up and down the hilly campus of UT in Austin, while waiting for a show to begin...no pain whatsoever, just cushy comfort.

Size runs small. It fits but I should have taken half size up from my normal Timberland size.

As others have stated, these Timberland sneakers run small and narrow. They fit me, but I should have taken a half size up from my normal Timberland size. Otherwise, these are quality sneakers, soft leather, comfortable and great design.
