I had a pair of Jousen size 13 AMY135 safety shoes but they are no longer offered in that size! I decided to buy these shoes and they arrived quickly and well packed! The size 13 fits well, plenty of toe room and I wear steel toe reinforced socks [thick]The shoe has a leather upper so it does not "breath" like the cloth type safety shoes. The leather is smooth and no wrinkles. Yes you can polish them! and they claim to bewater proof....well, cow hide is designed to keep the cow's innards dry so why not these shoes? They do look large on your feet...the shoes are heavy compared to other cloth type safety shoestheir weight is about 1lb 9.8oz, 25,9oz, 730 grams. The Jousen cloth type safety shoes run around 1lb 4.2oz, 20.2oz, 570 grams..so lighter in weight by 160 grams etc.The soles are very thick anti slip and CSA listed to protect you from electric shock.I did not try that!It did take about two days to break them in,but after that they are comfortableand do have some flexibility.I have foot drop so I am sensitive to the extra weight of the shoe.Your feet may feel hot since there is no venting or air flow..as they are waterproof. But over night they are dry and no foot odor.I am very satisfied with these shoes although a Canadian company they are made in China!
The fit was great. Plenty of room in the toe area. I have already worn them several times for 10-12 hour work days and they still feel great at the end of the day.
My husband wears an 11.5 wide, and the size 12 fit well. He says that there wasn't much of a break-in time for these shoes. He runs constantly and they are a medium-weight shoe that is not so heavy that it impedes his speed. The only reason they are not rated higher is because we are not sure of their durability yet.
