If you’re deliberating over whether the Sam Edelman Women's Penny Classic Equestrian Boot deserves a spot in your closet, consider its multifaceted appeal. The striking design captures the essence of equestrian fashion while being versatile enough to pair with skirts, dresses, or jeans.
One of the standout features is the quality of the basto crust leather. It not only looks luxurious but also holds up well with regular use. However, due to its initial stiffness, you may need to break them in before achieving that buttery-soft feel.
In terms of comfort, this boot does not disappoint. The stacked heel provides just the right amount of elevation without sacrificing stability, making it an excellent option for all-day wear. The wide shaft design is beneficial for those with larger calves, though it's advisable to measure accurately if you have one foot larger than the other.
Maintenance is straightforward; a gentle wipe with a damp cloth will keep them looking pristine, and avoiding silicone polishes helps prolong their life. Given the aesthetic appeal and functionality, these boots offer a great balance between luxury and practicality.

When I first ordered these boots, I ordered an 8, because that is what I wear in tennis shoes. They were a little too long (they seem to be long and narrow). My foot is a little on the narrow side, so the width was perfect. I returned them and got a 7.5, which is what I sometimes wear in heels or sandals, and they fit perfectly. The soles were a little stiff the first time I wore them, but soon I noticed they were more flexible and the leather had stretched a little bit. I have worn these 7-8 times now and they have never hurt my feet or rubbed anywhere. Are they the most comfortable shoes I own? Well, no. But I certainly can't complain and they have never been UNcomfortable. I liked the review that said they were neither comfortable nor uncomfortable. That's about how I felt. But the best part of these boots is they are SUPER cute. I loved that the toe was darker, because I have noticed a lot of other boots that I see look very worn, and when they get wet from rain or snow, look it. I wore these boots twice in snow, and they never looked or felt wet or cold, and did not stain like lesser quality leathers. They seem to be pretty good quality leather, and they feel very soft. I hate cheap-looking leather boots. I like how the boot zips in the back, which makes wearing straight leg or skinny jeans easy. I have gotten many compliments on them too. Also, the price I got them for was awesome. These were exactly what I was looking for and I would buy several more pairs of them.
I hope my review will help some people decide if this is the right boot for them. Let me start out with some measurements.I am 5'9". From my arch to under my knee cap, my leg is 19 inches. I measure 15 1/4 inches at the widest point in my calf and where the top of these boots hit. These boots hit 2 1/2 to 3 inches from bottom of my knee cap.The widest part of my foot measures at 3 3/4 when standing. My ankle measures 9 inches around the bone. With that being said; I bought these boots in black in both a 9 and 9 1/2 and my usual size In shoes is a 9. I debated but ultimately I do believe these boots run true to size given that the widest point of your foot is not much more than mine because I see it becoming a tad uncomfortable after that. I also had too much heel slippage with the 9 1/2 but I do have slim heels. I have worn thin and thicker socks and they were still comfortable. With my calf size, it was snug with leggings on but not uncomfortable and the elastic gore part was barely stretched which leads me to think these could accommodate up to a 16 inch calf. I was still able to slide part of my hand into the side of the boots but overall, it was a very nice fit, very sleek. The boots are somewhat roomy for me at the ankles and do sag a little there but I don't think that takes away from the look of the boot. If you are looking for a very structured boot, then this is not it because the leather is very soft.Overall, beautiful boot and I love the supple leather. Very elegant and simple with all the right touches. Also loving the traction at the bottom of the boot for rainy days. Comfortable enough for me to walk around in them for a full day. Looking forward to buying them in another color.
Let me just say that I have been an Amazon Prime member for like 12 years and purchase several things a week....I have never written a review until today. These boots arrived at my work this morning. I purposely wore skinny jeans on the off chance that if these worked out I could actually wear them today. I took the box in my office, shut the door and prepared myself for the disappointment I know so well with tall boots. I happen to know my right calf is a little bigger than my left so I put the right boot on first. I struggled a little pushing my jean and sock into the boot around the ankle and then up up up went the zipper. To the top! OMG!!! Needless to say the left boot went on very easily. Victory!I wore them out to lunch before writing this review. They are super comfortable, however I have a narrow foot and obviously a very wide calf. I read some reviews from people with wide feet that found these boots too tight - for me they are perfect in both the foot and calf. I could see the zipper rubbing a little on back of your ankle, but I tuck my jeans into my socks so that didn't bother me. I'm really pleased with the leather - I chose the whiskey and it looks nice - I think they will get better with age. I love that they are leather all over and don't have any big elastic panel or anything giving away the fact that they are wide calf boots. Like some other reviewers mentioned, they do seem a tad long in length. I wear an 8 and the 8's are almost too big for me, if I purchase another color I may go with a 7.5.Anyway, if you are hesitating and have had lots of disappointments like so many of us ladies with big calves, give these a try. I wish Sam Eldleman would make the exact same boot with a 2-3" heel, I would love a pair that doesn't make me feel feel quite so stumpy.
Loved the buttery leather and the snap cover for the zipper in back. I usually wear size 8. I purchased the black in size 8.5 M-WC. They are very roomy on me. The zipper seems to be heavy duty so far. The comfort is good. If you're looking for warmth then these are not the boots for you. The wide leg size was way wider than I need but they still work with pants and long skirts. I measured the leg circumference at 17in. I would recommend these boots mainly because of that buttery, soft leather.
These are fake. I have another pair of the exact same boots and wanted a second pair because I love them. These boots are discolored. The material is cheap looking and stiff. The calf is much wider than my real boots. And the buckles do not stay closed. Do not buy.
