I bought this boots for an unexpected travel where I needed foot and ankle support in order to complete the excursions. This boots surpassed my expectations. I could walked, hick(mild) and stand without any problems. After a calcaneus bone fracture and ligament sprain that I still recovering, this was the solution. I bought 7 pairs from different brands and this one was the winner. They are light and excellent quality. I only changed the cord to black to match better my wardrobe. Very good product.
I absolutely love Ryka shoes and this boot does not disappoint. It's comfortable and I feel that I could take a hike right now without breaking in the shoes.
These boots are very well made and the leather is super soft. I believe the upper is part suede and part synthetic. They'd make for a great travel boot as they are lightweight and not too bulky. I'm between an 8.5 and 9 so I ordered both sizes. Both were too long on me, I'm sure I could have gone down to an 8, but just in the length. The boots are narrow, not only narrow in fit but also in cut (if that makes sense??). The foot of the boot is long and skinny with a narrow lace-up area so that if you need to loosen the laces and wear them on a wider foot, it looks really unflattering and stretched out of shape.
Wore these to hike Oregon trails and coast. By far the nicest hiking boots I saw compared to my fellow travelers lol
First it took them a week to arrive...they are a bit narrow, hoping they will stretch some...and third..they arrived very musty smelling as though stored in a very damp warehouse..I have had them on all day and the still very odorous.

Just as I expected Love the boot
I love the style and fit of this boot, but the strong, musty smell is a dealbreaker. I initially ordered an 8, which smelled fine. I exchanged them for a 7, and when I received those, I had to put them on the porch because the smell gave me a headache. If I exchange, I may get another stinky pair or not in time for my hike. I am about to give up finding a comfortable pair of hiking boots :(
