I work with older people - mostly women - all day. I have a bazillion sneakers, from designers to high tech to off brands. I've been pleasantly surprised by this brand (that I never heard of before). For many women's feet, this brand is an excellent fit. My feet are narrow to medium now, I have perfectly healthy clients in their 80s (& 90s!) with narrow feet. This brand of shoe fits me very comfortably all day. I'm wearing a 9, I'm 5'7", 58 years old, not overweight. I bought the ones without ties for an 89 year old, very active lady. She wears an 8. She's tall, slender /average, narrow feet. She loves them & her balance is great in them. I've purchased two others for her now, different colors. The Ryka shoes with the laces fit her great, too - but she opted for the Ryka shoes without laces in the end. She no longer wants to fool with the laces. I perform balance & gait activities with people, among other things. I have some clients with Parkinson's. To a person, people perform their balance & gait activities well in these shoes. I'm super happy with that for my older ladies. I feel more comfortable now that they're safer when I'm not around. The only possible negative is that no one I know has had these shoes for a long time, so I'm not sure how long they hold up. I know someone that's been wearing hers EVERYDAY since she received them, though. She's just sad now that she's gotten spots on them & needs to wash them! Hers are holding up fine with that wear for a few months now. She's active from early morning throughout the day, including out to dinner almost every night. We'll see what happens after we put them in the wash a time or two. I'm sure the descriptions say you can wash them in the washer (on most versions). The convenience of being able to wash a daily-wear shoe is also a huge plus & no-brainer as far as I'm concerned. Particularly for active older (dare I say elderly?) folks. I'll send another review at some point regarding stability / durability after washing. I really think many women cannot go wrong with this brand's basic footbed & construction. Every version I've looked at has these attributes. The prices are great for the performance. I normally would buy a far higher priced shoe (like Brooks) for this stability for people. The higher priced shoes typically don't have the convenience of Ryka's cloth shoes, where you can throw them in the wash. I prefer laces (as my foot can change throughout the day & day to day). I am buying the cloth versions of these Ryka shoes sometimes now for balance of convenience. In all of this, I'm talking about walking, not running. I have NOT run in these shoes. I'm thinking they're too delicate for daily running of any distance. Runners know what they want for that. Completely different situation. Daily wear shoe for a decent amount of walking & other activities, though ? They're good! Cute, color variety, style variety, all that. I'm a fan at this point
I love Bzees shoes, including this one. So very comfortable! Good fit! The blue and white pattern looks cute with jeans.
I would give this shoe 5 stars overall, but the only thing that was bothersome was that the arch support was too high and pinching me. That made the shoe uncomfortable. But then I discovered that if I put an insole (basic, from Walmart) it made the shoe fit perfectly and very comfortable. I live in these shoes now, day in and day out. I absolutely love them. They are a perfect sneaker for me. So if any of you are having the same issue with the pinching arch, insert an insole and see if that works better for you.I love Amazon. They are my shoe store, my shopping mall, my go to for everything. Thank you.
I bought a pair of these shoes elsewhere. They were comfortable and were helpful with controlling pain from plantar fasciitis, so I ordered a pair from this seller. They are just as comfortable as the ones I bought at the store.
Ryka shoes seem to run at least a half size small; I am never never 9.5, but in the Ryka shoes I have tried, I always seem to be 9.5. I have a tall instep and these were just a little too snug for me in that area. If your feet are a little flatter, you should be okay. I also have wide feet and the wide was reasonably wide and the heel wasn't too wide like some wide shoes are. These are relatively comfortable, if it wasn't for the tightness across the top of the foot, but again I have a high instep, so this style just may not work for me. The look was too boring to try and make it work, so I decided to send them back. I find the Echo a little more attractive in person, if you are looking for a similar shoe from Ryka, but again they are like an incredibly tight hug if you have a high instep.
Right now this is my favorite shoe. I have a really hard time finding shoes that work for me because I am on my feet all day. These are really comfortable and give your feet enough room to move normally. Hopefully this style will be around for awhile.
comfortable shoes but they do run large.
The shoe appears to be well made, and felt somewhat comfortable at first. As time went on, the comfort decreased and now are just plain uncomfortable. They feel narrow in the toe box and the arch is high and stiff. Would return if I could. Disappointing as this is the 3rd Ryka pair I purchased because I loved the comfort from the first two pairs...
