It’s been several years since I bought a pair of Rocky brand work boots. Last time I wasn’t too impressed. The last pair of patrol boots didn’t last long and started coming apart.I gave them a chance again for a pair of these snake boots that I wanted for adventure motorcycle riding. They had good reviews and I wanted to give them a chance for the value and good reviews. I’ve used them for riding for a few months now and I’m impressed!First, I tested them by wearing them to pressure wash my fence. It was three days of soaking wet spray and sloshing through muddy grass. They didn’t allow a drop inside! They are very comfortable. I am a size 13 and they are perfect. The insoles are comfy, and they are extremely light weight. The toe is not a steel toe but it is very firm. I’ve worn them to ride my adventure motorcycle in hot dry weather and some cool weather so far and they are holding up very well.I’ve hiked around in them a bit and camped with them. I did cut a pair of socks off to make a leg gaiter to sit at the top of the boot where it contacts my upper calf/lower knee. There’s nothing wrong with the boot, but when hiking, the upper portion of the boot will move as you walk and irritate your leg so that’s how I fixed that. All the seams are holding up great. The laces are plenty long and stay tied. There is also a locking mechanism on the ankle which allows you to cinch the lace into it to make the lower “shoe” portion of the boot a little tighter and not affected by the long lace allowing it to loosen. I usually use that if I’m walking a lot while camping, but daily I don’t worry about it and it makes the boot easier to take off when the lace isn’t locked in there.I am very pleasantly surprised and impressed with these boots. Very comfortable and they are holding up well to my 6’4”, 230lb frame for riding, walking and keeping my feet dry. Good job, Rocky! I’ll be buying more boots from you!
Comfortable and gives great support to ankles. They are snake proof also. Good quality boot.
These boots are AMAZING! I'm a woman's 8, bought a 6 and they fit PERFECTLY! Snug. Not loose at all, and I was able to wear heavy socks for added warmth. They were a sure hit at my hunting safety course and my first time turkey hunting I ended up in a bull pasture, calf deep in bull dung trying to save my life. 100% water AND dung proof right up to the top! AND good luck cuz I shot my first 17lb Jake that day! I'm not sure why they didn't reek of bull crap since practically swimming in it, but they didn't and I never even had to rinse them off, lol... EXCELLENT BOOT! Thank you!
Comfortable fit, can wear extended time as not too heavy.
I am on my second pair of these boots. The first pair had a slight defect in the toe so I returned it. This second pair seems to fit very well. I've walked around a bit with them to "break them in". Seems to be going well. I normally wear a size 12 and I ordered a size 12. Seems to be true to size and maybe slightly roomy. Good though. There is pair of lacing eyes that I have never seen before. They are at the instep of each boot and very irregular in shape. I can see the eyes are meant to capture and lock in the shoe lace but they are not very easy or straightforward to use. Maybe over time I'll figure them out better. The boots do seem to be waterproof but as others have said about waterproof boots, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you get wet feet. The cordura nyon that most of the boot is made of captures and holds water between the threading but then sheds it once you get out of the water. Kind of interesting. I wondered where the big puddle of water came from after I tried them in water and discovered it came from the cordura. Time to clean up the floor..... I would buy these again. I plan on using them for portaging in Quetico in a few months. I know, different than most canoers but a friend I know swears by snake boots for the Boundary Waters and Quetico. I shall see......
I was quite disappointed i was sent the wrong size, but it happened to fit my son so we kept them. Iv had 3-4 pair in the past and they have always been excellent. Waterproofing usually fails after 6-12 months of use (as with most boots) but they are very comfortable and offer great traction & support. I avoid snakes so i cannot say how well they perform from bites but they are very durable against sharp rocks, metal, etc
Very comfortable and true to size. Not heavy at all and easy to walk in.
If you're reading this review, then you've probably figured out that this snake boot is popular with the ladies. Fellas, truth be told, this is a mans boot and true to my size 10. Women are loving this boot and that's awesome! They call the boot unisex but that's marketing. Women are having to order in their equivalent mans size. After 3 wears this boot has great freedom in the ankle area. This isn't one of those boots where you're going to walk like the tin man from the wizard of oz. You have mobility to scale the outdoor terrain. My only question is how effective these boots are against a full grown rattle snake. My wife purchased SHE Outdoor Bayou NWTF snake boots and hers feel extremely thicker and stronger than mine do. That's not to say these aren't effective but the feel makes me wonder. While her boots feel way more impressive, the ankle area of her boot is extremely tight and limiting. There is even this leather padded section on the back heel of this Rocky boot that I don't feel any snake material through. I can't say it's not there but it doesn't feel like it. Just feels like soft padding on the back of the boot. I don't see how a fang wouldn't go right through it. This potentially vulnerable area is small but I've had worse luck before. These are great boots but these are my honest thoughts. Maybe you can research a bit more and put yourself at ease or disprove some of my concerns. Whatever you do, get outdoors.
