When considering the Rocky Duty Men's Modern Black Boot, it's essential to evaluate several factors including comfort, durability, traction, and overall usability.
Comfort: The contoured EVA footbed provides ample support, making these boots suitable for long hours of wear, whether you're working in challenging environments or simply spending a day outdoors. However, some users report a slight break-in period before they achieve optimal comfort.
Durability: With robust Goodyear welt construction, these boots are built to last. They can be repaired rather than replaced, which is a significant advantage for those who rely on their footwear for demanding jobs.
Traction: The black rubber lug outsole offers excellent grip on various surfaces, ensuring safety when walking on slick or uneven ground. This feature makes them particularly appealing for those working in environments where spills can occur.
Usability: The side zipper is a thoughtful addition, allowing for quick and effortless wear without the hassle of lacing up each time. This feature saves time, especially during busy shifts.

I should make it clear that I do not work a construction job or anything that would be the hardest on footwear, but I’m not easy on my footwear either. I work in a field where I do equal parts of office work, warehouse work, and laboratory work, so really I need a light duty, high variety boot that looks good in corporate casual. Combat boots fit the bill perfectly as well as my personal style (metal head) and these are one of the best pairs of combat boots I've ever had. I’ve been wearing combat boots since high school (over a decade) so I’ve been through a few pairs as well. These break in pretty easily, they fit great, they're comfortable, they're wearing well, and they look great. They beat the heck out of the very similar Bates jump boots I had before. Also notable is I’ve had no problems with the side zipper as others have, and I continue to find it to be a blessing just as I have with other pairs—lacing 11” of boot to take it on and off is quite a time sink, so I’m glad not to have to do it. Most notable with regard to wear of the boot, there’s hardly any wear on the outsole after 2 years, which is phenomenal. Even with the leather, which I would expect some unshinable wear with my disgraceful maintenance habits and 2 years of use, I just shined them up tonight and you can hardly tell they’re two years old.Just to be thorough, I’ll list a couple more things of note, but I don’t think any are worth docking a star:1. The stock insole is far from the worst I’ve ever had particularly in combat boots, but I usually replace mine anyway, and with these it’s been no different. If you’re in the market, I’d be surprised if you don’t already have one lined up.2. The outsoles don’t get the best grip on smooth surfaces wet with watery substances, something I come across often in my line of work. This is more of a tread type issue than anything else, and even then the tread is a very common vibram type tread. They’re not the worst footwear I’ve had with wet spots, but I wouldn’t exactly call them slip resistant—more slip ambivalent. Just know if you have a lot of wet floor hazards in your end use for your boot, this might not be the best choice.I have a hard time thinking of bad things to say about these, though—thoroughly recommended, no question.
I wish these boots would come in a size 6.5 it was way to big as a 7 the quality feels amazing and the inside is so comfortable come on rocky make smaller sizes for chics please
Just received this boot and am very satisfied with quality and comfort. I have owned Rocky boots in the past and will continue to buy them. They get 4 out 5 stars because they are not the highest quality leather boot but are exactly what you pay for at this price. Very satisfied.
I love these boots! They’re super slick looking and have great support. They’re def gonna take some time to break in, a little uncomfortable on the ankles and heals at first. Warm, waterproof, and great grip on the soles. Worth every penny!
this are a great pair of boots, my husband works 16 hours walking on concert and wore out his other Rockie boots, so he wanted this pair, as soon as he slipped them on he said they feel comfortable without needing a shoe insole, his toes were not scrunched up he wears a 10.5 w and they were just right, the boot has a medium thick sole, the picture is right what they look like and the boot will hit at mid calf, the shinny tips of the top of the boot are a dull shine if that makes sense its shinny but not a blind you shinny, these boots are slip on and wear right out of the box.
I'm a law enforcement officer and have ordered Rocky boots in the past. Honestly the $50-60 Magnum's I've had in the past are built better. I've had several different boots including Danner Acadia's and the 5.11 HRT boot. Although the Danner's are not as comfortable for summer wear, the durability is much preferred. These boots have pretty shoddy construction and I would recommend buying a different boot. I instantly put a pair of athletic gel soles to replace the original sole as they just weren't comfortable. Highly recommend the 5.11 HRT boot as they feel like an athletic shoe and are great for a duty boot.
i really like these boots. use size chart too approximate your size choice mine were alittle small but all in all fit like a glove. they really hurt to break in but look great and after a week these are great! went with these instead of the taller size because the review said they last longer and are more water resistant, time will tell! but so far love these boots!!
Probably the Best Police Duty boots i ever wore they are very durable will last forever in tough conditions very good deep traction on the bottom shine great so they look good in uniform And are also very tactical because there so light i can run fast in them!
