These are some of the best boots I've ever owned. I've had several different Merrell boots but these are the most comfortable pair I've owned. I bought them as an everyday boot but I ended up wearing them as work boots as well. They are very lightweight and breathable even though they are waterproof. They are very easy to clean as well. I once wore them while working security at a rodeo and they got covered in dust and dirt. The next day I took them outside and just rinsed the dirt off with the garden hose. They are also some of the most stable boots I worn. The grip they maintain on wet terrain is amazing. I definitely recommend these.
I bought these shoes for trail hiking in the Scottish highlands and was not disappointed. They are supportive and comfortable enough to wear all day. Although I did wear them a few times before my trip, I felt they fit well from the start and didn't really need a "break-in period" like some shoes do. I did not get any hot spots or soreness on my feet and I didn't feel the need to add insoles. These fit quite well (true to size) and I like that they are a bit higher than normal shoes for a little extra ankle support. They seem to be well-constructed from quality materials and I had no issues with them at all throughout the entire trip. I look forward to many more hiking adventures in these shoes!
Merrell Alverstone Mid height hiking boots. Color: Merrell Stone (brown on brown with yellow accents) I have only worn these for a few days but so far they have been really nice lighter weight hikers. They are comfortable right out of the box and seem to be well made (made in Vietnam). Featuring Merrell's M-sellect outsole and M-sellect dry membrane, rubber toe cap, air cushion heel, bellows (gusseted) tongue, and several other features. These are lighter than MOAB 2's and can be worn in warmer weather than some of the other hikers without your feet getting hot. I have not been able to really test them as I don't do much hiking anymore but they do stand up well to several hours of straight walking and the outsole lugs have good taction. Nor have I been able to test the M-sellect dry membrane which will keep your feet dry (while still breathable) from heavy dew or rain (although I've read it's not gore-tex so no standing in ankle deep puddles, creeks, etc.). If they hold up well then they will be a bargain at the $109.00 price I paid. The only fault I can find is they are a little noisy while walking due to the adhesive used on the upper which joins the mesh outer part with the inner padding. Walking compresses the layers together and they then separate to normal position causing a noise similar to pealing tape from something, but it's fairly quiet and does not bother me and I am particular, I will immediately return any shoes if the uppers or outsoles squeak or "pop"
They were laced all the way up when I got them, so I assumed they were worn. I didn’t like that feeling, but! I kept them. Me and merrells go way back. I tortured my first pair, and they were comfortable out the box. Waterproof to the max. I kept them because they still are comfortable and are waterproof because I fish in the rain. Never had a problem with this name brand. Even if they are used, shame on them, but thumbs up to the shoe company because they are solid.
Very comfortable Merrill hiking boots. Probably my 4th pair. Very happy.
These are almost as lite as my tennis shoes. I took them out of box put them on and walked 3 miles.Size 9 but maybe I should have got 9W. Hopefully they spread out with use. Will use for summer hikes and for sure buy again. Shoe strings are kind of skinny and put a double knot so they would not come untied. The material on shoe strings kinda slick so may swap out with 550 cord for laces. Overall great price and great boot.
First of all, when I first brought these shoes about 2 and a half months ago, I was highly pleased. As a mail carrier, I need shoes to be comfy, have great support, be warm, and waterproof. These shoes checked every box. However, about a month of wear, I noticed my left foot getting damp. And after two months, the waterproofing on my left shoe has failed toward the inner bottom. My foot gets wet just about any puddle I step in..So, all in all, great shoes while they last, but they seem to wear out quick.. I wonder what the other waterproof shoes are like in build, such as the mobas? I'm willing to give them a shot.Maybe my expectations are a bit too high...
Bought these shoes for an offroad event our local 4x4 club was putting on at Catahoula Recreation Park in Louisiana back in November.Sorry, but I have to put a plug in for it...the event is called Louisiana Club Challenge or LCC and we usually have it in November. It's a fund raiser for St. Judes Children Hospital where any 4x4 club is invited and like the name suggests their are challenges. There are different types of races from stock to hill climbers. There's lots of trails, hills, rocks, mud, water, you name it. There are vendors that provide items for raffles, there are items to buy, etc. and all of the proceeds go to St. Jude's! We raised over $12000 this time but could always use more! So pass the word if you know anyone or any vendor who might be interested! Look up the Facebook page or IG.Anyway, like I said there are lots of hills, rocks, mud, water, etc. and the temps got down to about 34deg F. I had not worn the shoes in before we left but they were very comfortable, handled everything very well and kept my feet warm but appear they'll still be breathable in hotter months. Did not get a chance to put them through a really good water test but the little I did they were fine. The quality seems good and so far I really like them. I'm also glad I bought the mid height. It's a good compromise for all seasons and conditions.
