My 30 year old beloved hiking boots hiked their last hike. COVID made shopping for new boots difficult. I read all of the reviews and decided to give the Moab’s a try. I normally wear a 9 1/2 women’s shoe with one foot being slightly longer than the other. I debated a 10 but also didn’t want them to be a tripping hazard when I got fatigued on a hike and didn’t lift my feet as I should. The 9 1/2’s were a good decision, however hiking down steep downhill terrain forces my feet in such a way that I can lightly feel my one bigger footed toe touch the boot. I have hiked up many mountain peaks and logged over 30 miles since I purchased them. I love how they fit, grip rocks, hug my ankles, keep my feet dry, and support my arches. I went on a shorter 5 mile hike the first time I wore them and they felt wonderful. No bandaids or rub spots anywhere. I read review all of the time but this is the first one I have ever written one. I would purchase these boots again, in this size, with no questions asked. They are awesome. Well done Merrill!
I was looking for an all weather walking/hiking boot for a long time. These are absolutely perfect right out of the box! I did use waterproof spray on them as extra protection. Not sure I needed to but I spray all my new shoes. No break in time - most comfortable boot ever! I wear them mostly to walk my dogs in all kinds of weather and terrain. I love these boots!! I wear a 9 or 9.5 medium width depending on the shoe. I ordered these in a 9.5 in case I wanted to wear heavier socks. The are super comfortable!! If you're on the fence buy them! You will be happy you did! I get lots of compliments on them!
I've been waiting for a while to get legitimate hiking boots. I was going to get a pair of Keens, but after learning that their quality in adult hiking boots has taken a dive, I tried these out. Took them on a short, but steep hike with a puppy and three kids under five. Even across a sandy incline and decline, these provided support with a pulling pup while holding hands with a toddler. My feet felt great after, no break in period.
I’ve had these boot for a few weeks now and I have to say that they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn! I wear a size 8 1/2 but always get a 9 in hiking or running shoes so they give my feet room to move. I have completely flat feet. These shoes have a perfect arch support for my feet. It’s a moderate support. It’s not too high where my feet hurt after wearing them for hours. I’ve worn these shoes all day and haven’t had any issues with sore or hurt feet. They look good with jeans so not only are they comfortable to take hikes in but also wear them with jeans and a comfortable clothing for day to day wear. I’ve worn them in rain and cold. They are water proof and warm when it’s cold outside. The shoes look exactly like the picture, came quickly and were well packaged.
These are great hiking boots. I tried many other hiking boots in various brands before landing on these, but either the fit was off or they were too clunky and heavy. These boots have a perfect fit, are pretty lightweight, and don't even require breaking in. I took them on my trip to Alaska, where it was raining the entire time I was there. I used them almost everyday, either hiking on trails or walking in town, and they really do keep your feet dry. They also have amazing traction, and I was pretty amazed I wasn't slipping on wet rocks while hiking. I usually wear a size 7, but got a 7.5 to accommodate for thicker hiking socks. Perfect fit :)
My last pair (diff. brand) was snug in the toe box especially when wearing med-weight wool socks. These are comfortable and so far I don’t have to double toe them. Shoelaces could be a bit longer.
Suffering from plantar facitius and fallen arches, I'm always looking for support as well as durable hiking boots. These felt great the second In put them on. the uppers are soft fabric that don't pinch and they look good. I've been a fan of Merrell for many years. The tread is good for hiking.
I have been ordering boots to hike in and sending them back for the past two weeks. Finally these arrived and they are perfect! They even have great arch support, and I have very high arches. There is a big arch support on the inside of each boot - if you don't have high arches, these might be uncomfortable. I love the vibram soles - I've been hiking two hours a day since the beginning of May in the woods and it can be slippery especially going downhill, and these soles are wonderful. Also before these boots I was twisting my ankles almost every day. These have super support for my ankles, and I am really glad I got them! Also the olive color with the purple laces just makes me happy.
