Brand | Model | Material | Comfort Level |

Clarks | Glenwood Rise Slip-On | Leather/Suede | Medium |
Rockport | Men's Classic Slip-On | Leather | Medium |
The Mephisto Men's Cap Vert Penny Loafer excels in providing a luxurious feel without sacrificing functionality. The leather upper is not just aesthetically pleasing; it molds to your foot over time, offering a personalized fit that enhances comfort. Whether you're attending a business meeting or going out for a dinner date, these loafers offer versatility that suits various occasions.
In terms of support, the cork and latex footbed absorbs shock and distributes weight evenly, making each step feel effortless. Additionally, the rubber sole provides excellent grip, making these loafers safe for different surfaces.
However, be mindful of the break-in period. While many users report a comfortable fit right away, some might experience slight stiffness initially as the leather adapts to the shape of their feet.

took a chance on mephisto even though i had never tried them on. they are very comfortable and they have a good business/casual look. obviously not a suit shoe but trousers and dress shirt are good with these. they do feel a tad on the larger/wider side. i will look for a slightly thicker sock. quality definitely seems to be there. I have only had these for about 3 weeks. will update later if anything worth posting.
If you ever have any doubts about Mephisto, walk into a Mephisto store (they are typically in affluent areas). Try a pair on and you will get it. They either fit perfectly or require a very minor adjustment through the use of heel lifts to prevent ankle rub. One of the things the salesmen will tell you is that it takes longer to make one pair of these shoes than it does to assemble an automobile and it shows. The shoes are very well made. I typically wear one pair at a time and generally get 2 years of use before they really start wearing/falling apart. You can have them restored and resoled but there isn't that much that can be done when they are worn out. So its one of those things where you can pay $100 for a decent pair of Johnston and Murphy or Cole Haan or you can pay 3 times as much for a more comfortable shoe that lasts significantly longer. I also interchange these with a pair of Mephisto Nautics on the wknds. Highly recommend.
The Cap Vert is good looking and made with high quality materials, but the front of the shoe is too narrow while the back of the shoe is made for someone with an unrealistically fat heel. My heel would slide out of the shoe when I lifted my foot. It felt like wearing a flip flop instead of an actual shoe. It's a shame because Mephisto makes some fantastic shoes and this one looks great, but is a real blemish on their record for me. I will stick with the Algoras, which looks almost as good (a bit more casual) but actually fits a human foot.
Comfortable with or without socks, although I prefer without with this model. It takes the germans to germanize the penny loafer. If you like a traditional penny loafer that is better built than american brands who now make them God knows where and whose quality has sunk tremendously, the german iteration of the penny loafer is a winner.
This is an excellent shoe. The quality is extremely high. This would be my go to shoe for office, as well as to go to friend's places (because the shoe is easy to take on and off, and looks great). The quality of leather is top notch. After 1 year of use, they are still new. Quality is way higher compared to Allen Edmonds.
These shoes are good from the start, look great, and can be left out in the rain without ruining them. I bought my first pair when walking around in Venice, Italy to replace inferior shoes that fell apart while on the trip. It seemed like too much money at the time, but it has worked out great. It turns out they are really a bargain. That was three years ago, and I still wear the same shoes several times a week.
Great shoe but looks used and box was broken
This is my second pair of Cap Vert slip-on's. Made a mistake on the first set as they are at least a 1/2 a size larger than my normal size shoes. This was a bit of problem with the first pair, but because I opted for a half size smaller the new shoes fit like a glove. Although Mephisto's are on the pricey side, the comfort and wear make up for the price. I also like that I can send them back for refurbishment.Great casual shoe that can be worn for hours on end in great comfort.
