Very comfortable right out of the box. Well made for heavy use. It does run a bit large, maybe 1/2 a size of less. I typically wear 9.5 in Keens which is what I purchased and there is plenty of room for heavy socks in the winter. Excellent support and tread.
I was so excited to find these on clearance (I got them for about 65% off regular price)! I tried another well-known brand of inexpensive hiking boots but they were just too bulky for my liking. These looked a little slimmer profile and I liked that they were leather so I watched them on Amazon for awhile. Once the price dropped, I got them! I've only worn them around the house but right off they seem very comfortable. I did get a half size larger than my normal size (I normally wear 9.5, I ordered 10) and I'm so glad I did. They fit great! A 9.5 would have been way too tight against the tip of my toes. I'm anxious to try these on the trail! I need to "break them in" before our 2 week hiking trip in Utah. I'll update after I've worn them more. So far I'm happy with these Keen hiking boots!
I wear a size 8 2A in tennis shoes and wear crew socks for walking. I ordered this boot 3 months ago in a size 8. It was so narrow and short I had to take the insole out and replace it with the thinnest cheapest insole and wear thin socks., which is fine for hiking on warmer days. I then bought these in a size 8.5. They work great as is with my thick hiking socks. I recommend these boots if you have a narrow foot and have trouble finding boots narrow enough. Order a half size larger.
I REALLY wanted to like these. Unfortunately, they're much too tight across my forefoot. I have a pair of the original terradora line hiking shoes. I'm not sure if the fit of these changed so much or if it's just that the shape of my feet changed so much after foot surgeries about 9 months ago. Regardless whether it's only the change in my feet or also a change in the terradora line, these boots were so tight across the forefoot that I couldn't even wear them for 10 minutes, even just sitting down, so I returned them. The look and color of these is great. They're definitely not a "Keen original fit" shoe, which is specified fairly in the description. If you're looking for that original fit with a wide roomy toe box, be aware that these fit differently. If you're unsure if they'll fit you well, I advise ordering from a listing that has a free return policy. If they fit you, these are a great choice. Keen shoes are high quality and durable. My old terradora hiking shoes were great. With 5 years of frequent use, the outsole still has plenty of tread. If you've never tried Keen shoes or boots, I highly recommend the brand. If you've never tried Keen before and a pair of the non-original-fit doesn't work for you, look for some that specify "original keen fit" and try those. Keen is a brand worth trying, and worth every penny. I gave these a 3-star rating since they definitely don't work for me and do fit very differently than Keen original fit -- a good deal differently than I thought they might. I thought 3 stars a fair rating since that's in the middle. People looking for that roomy fit may not like these; people that this fit works for would have a great shoe. So I averaged my thoughts on those factors and came up with 3 stars. The color of these is so nice. I wish they had worked for me.
This is my second pair of Terradoras. I wore the first pair far enough down that I only use them on light trails. I took them on a trek to Philmont Scout Ranch this Summer and realized that they shouldn't go on my next big adventure, so I bought these. I have a bunion on one foot, and arthritis in the other. I can still hike comfortably in these boots. They provide great support, even on very rocky terrain.
Couldn't be happier. She now looks as much like a Subaru owner as possible without actually owning a Subaru.
These took about 2 days to break in which were pretty uncomfortable. I was concerned at first, but now they fit like a dream. I spend most of the day either driving, on my feet on concrete floors, or outside, so even with supportive shoes my feet often hurt at the end of the day. Not with these! They've been excellent - for once my feet are well supported and I've even noticed a difference in my overall posture. Most shoes last me about a year before they deteriorate - the quality of these shoes are excellent and I hope they'll last at least a year if not longer.
The sizing on these is not just half a size off as people have been describing. You will have to order AT LEAST a whole size up. I’m a 6.5 and Amazon and reviewers recommended i go up to a seven. These are SO uncomfortably tight and narrow. I don’t even have wide feet! I don’t think it’s just a matter of breaking them in either. There’s no reason the toe area should be this tight. Unbelievable. Sending them back. Probably just go with another brand because the back of the shoe was digging into my heel as well. They also just don’t look that great. I normally love Keen but these are a flop. Really wanted to like them but I’m super disappointed. Other than that the boot is well constructed.
