When it comes to work boots, the KEEN Utility Men's MT Vernon is a standout choice. First, let’s talk about the waterproofing. The Keen. Dry waterproof membrane ensures that your feet remain dry even in wet conditions, which is a significant advantage for outdoor jobs or rainy weather.
The construction of the boot is impressive, featuring a waterproof nubuck leather upper that is both durable and easy to clean. This high-quality material not only enhances the longevity of the boots but also contributes to their rugged aesthetic.
Comfort-wise, the direct attach PU midsole provides excellent cushioning, making these boots suitable for long hours of wear. The hydrophobic/hydrophilic comfort lining further enhances the overall coziness, allowing for adequate airflow while keeping moisture at bay.
One feature that many users appreciate is the removable metatomical dual-density EVA footbed. This means you can customize your level of comfort or replace it with orthotics if needed. Also, the thermoplastic polyurethane shank helps provide necessary support for your midfoot, crucial for those who are on their feet throughout the day.
However, it’s worth noting that some users have mentioned the boots may require a break-in period before they feel completely comfortable. Additionally, the premium quality does come with a higher price tag, but many find the investment worthwhile given their performance and durability.

I bought this boot for work, but then I realized that they didn't have a safety toe, so I gave them to my father for Christmas. He really likes them. Super comfortable. He's been using them to snow blow the driveway, and apparently they stay nice and warm and dry. He appreciates that they are American made as well.
Without a doubt, the most comfortable work boot I have ever worn, comfort of a sneaker in a work boot. Right out of the box they were comfortable. I can work all day without even thinking about my feet. I'm a glazier so my job puts my feet in all different conditions. Working on concrete, going up and down ladders, walking over uneven ground around customers homes, being in the snow or rain and climbing around scaffold. My last pair of Keen work boots were the Louisville wellingtons. They were extremely comfortable as well but the Mt. Vernon's edge out with the built in heel shock absorber. Had they not discontinued the louisville wellingtons, I would never have known how good these are. The size is true, they are light and look way better in person than they do in the photos. The toe cap is a little thicker than my other keens. Its a rubber that you can push in slightly with thumb, so it will absorb shock if you kick something or something lands on it. The tread is aggressive even though it doesn't look it from the photos. The lugs are almost 1/4". I would definitely recommend these boots to anyone looking for a comfortable, lightweight, durable boot.
The boot has a foot bed and insole. Very well built but it runs about a half size big and wide compared to all the other keen boots I've owned. Had to return the boots unfortunately.
Need a new pair of boots to fit my orthotics. Trying to find comfortable boots that are light weight and made in America was tough but these fit the bill. I was able to slide my orthotics in, had enough room in the toe box’s and was able to wear them all day. Happy feet.
I'm not one for writing reviews but these boots deserve it. I climb trees for a living and before these I bought Hawthornes(whites pre made), danners, and Carolinas and they only ever lasted about 8 months before falling apart or wearing out. I enjoyed all of these brands but nothing came as well equipped and sturdy built as these Keens which, by the way, lasted an entire year before developing a hole and losing a sliver of the sole. The first time I tried on a pair my feet loved them. They come with quality inserts that last the full life of the boot and for the first time ever I never had to replace the shoe laces. I put these through hell; mud, rain, rocks, you name it these have walked on it. The fit comfortably underneath my tree spikes (when I'm doing removals), and I don't lose circulation in my feet. I wear these 5 to 6 days a week all year long, they are a solid 100 bucks cheaper than any other boot that can even begin to compare with them. I threw in a picture of my 14 month old ones next to my new ones.
I purchased these boots to replace a pair of Danner work boots that were comfortabe, fit well, lasted about two years, and were comfortable. Danner redesigned the work boots and made them very uncomfortable so I had to find a replacement boot. The Keen work boot was selected becuase it was similar to the older and better Danner work boot. The Keen boot fit similar to the Danner work boot but doesn’t offer the same level of arch support or hardness in the soles. In fact, you can feel rocks throught the soles. After one month of wearing the boots the soles began to show high ware rates comperable to 1 year of ware with the Danner work boots. The leather uppers broke in in about 1 week of use. The two upper shoe lace hooks are poorly designed making it very difficult to release the shoe lace from the attachment. This has proven to be extreamly annoying making the shoes harder to get off than any other type that I have tried. The shoe laces are extreamly long making it hard to get rid of all the extra shoe lace. You have to be carefule to get all of the shoe laces taken up so it is not a tripping hazard which happed to me. The arch supports don’t provide adequate arch support and cause your feet to hurt. Overall, these boots are expensive for such a poor design. The leather upper scuff easily and don’t provide much protection from impact. These boots are very expense for what you get. I don’t recommend these boots when there are much better options on the market.
Live them
Good heavy duty boot. Fits and feels like every keen i have ever worn. Big in the toe box and not real cushiony. I work on concrete all day so I always replace my insoles first thing with a different brand insole and change them a couple of times a year.
