The combination of the durable waterproof leather and the breathable KEEN.DRY membrane means that whether you're working in wet or humid conditions, your feet will remain comfortable and dry.
Comfort is paramount with these boots; the KEEN Luftcell midsole provides excellent cushioning and reduces fatigue during long hours on your feet. Additionally, the moisture-wicking lining helps prevent sweaty feet, making these boots ideal for all-day wear.
In terms of traction, these boots do not disappoint. The oil- and slip-resistant outsole gives you confidence on slippery surfaces, ensuring you maintain your footing regardless of the challenges your work environment throws your way.
While their soft toe design is ideal for many occupations, it's worth noting that individuals needing significant crush protection may want to consider a reinforced option. Very good boots. My only suggestion for improvement would be a sturdier sole and or stronger shank.
They fit perfectly. They were for my brother who has very wide feet. He found they very comfortable. I would purchase again in the future.
I've been using this pair of Keen Independence Utility Boots for a few weeks now and I'm pretty impressed. I normally wear Merrell 10 Wide shoes and so I ordered a pair of 10 Wide boots. The toe box is large, to the point I feel like I could easily wear two pairs of socks on a cold day and be comfortable. I may have been able to wear a standard 10 from Keen too, in retrospect. While the boots were stiff initially, they've been breaking in and gaining flexibility as I use them. They're pretty comfortable as work boots, but I do think the insoles are on the basic side and could be upgraded if you're on your feet all day.I apologize for my photos being a little discolored with yellow pollen on the boots. The boots are a nice matte black finish and are holding up well. The shoelaces are nice and long, but are the type with basic plastic ends that will break down. Laces with metal ends might be a more durable match for the boots.
Love the fit and feel of these boots, they were replacing a pair of Irish Setter WingShooters that were making my feet get a rash. Lots of room in the tow box, nice heal lock, good foot orientation in the boot and feels more like a sneaker than a boot. Bonus, made in USA!I noticed the book hooks were really tight, the fit of the laces requires almost jamming them in there, unusual, as other brands don’t have it so snug a fit. On the plus side it makes it super snug custom fitted, the downside is that I suspect that tight fit is what caused the lace hook to go flying when I put them on this morning. Barely two weeks and already an issue? Disappointed, may reach out to the manufacturer and see what they say but most likely will just return them to Amazon. I really like the boot too, it’s a bummer that this happened, I need a snug fit and a missing lace hook is no good for that.
I am on my feet all day in the construction industry and these shoes are very comfortable. My feet get hot quickly and these shoes are nice and cool.Update: these shoes were great for a few months and then my right shoe developed a bubble at the ball of my foot. It seemed to be in the lining of the shoe. Soon after the left shoe developed a bubble at the tip of my big toe. Have no idea what it is or what caused it, but I can't wear the shoes anymore or it makes my feet sore.
Tried before I purchased several Keen models and width. Found these to be the most comfortable. Barely feel and resistance when standing on a roll pin ladder which is great. I like the toe protector that helps with wear and scratches especially when you drag your feet when on your knees moving around
I put a lot of miles on my boots, and Redwings have been my go-to brand for the last 10 years or so.These cost about the same as Redwing, but have insoles that are almost as good, and equivalent laces. The big advantage over Redwings is the width of the toe box. The disadvantage is the thinner leather and overall width. I find myself surprised by the gaps that these just won’t fit through.Comfort is outstanding. No hot spots at all.Lace hooks are awfully tight and sharp. I think these will eat laces pretty fast.Laces aren’t long enough to wrap around the boot and then tie (if you use all of the hooks) so my next pair of laces for these will be +10 to 15 inches.Redwings are rebuildable at the factory (at least theoretically, I’ve had one pair come back as unrepairable, with a brand new pair, for the price of a rebuild as a kind of apology). These boots aren’t.Since the price for these is roughly equivalent to Redwings, it comes down to how important the width of the toe box is to you and how abrasive your work environment is.Frankly, I’m torn. The additional toe room is a very nice feature, but I don’t think I’ll get 5+ years out of these. I’m more than willing to wear them for my 10,000 steps per day and find out. Maybe my next pair will be another pair of these…
Solid boot but for a taller boot it has very poor ankle support and what they have for support rubs your interior malleolus. The rear ankle support needs to be adjusted.
