I did a lot of shopping for rain boots, so I wanted to add my experience to the mix for anyone else who is researching their purchase.Sizing is weird. Most people say to order at least a size up, but some people say their regular size is fine. I went with the majority and ordered one size up (I'm normally a 6 so I ordered a 7), and they fit perfect. There's a little extra room in the toe, but a size down would have been too small.I'm fairly short and thin - 5'4" and about 105 pounds - and the height and calf-width on these is great. They definitely come up higher than they would on someone with a longer leg, but they're still a few inches below my knee. (Which, short people know, is a serious consideration.)I also have some good clearance around the calf. Some other reviewers with athletic legs mentioned that these were tight, but if you don't have muscular legs (like me) there is plenty of room. My narrow jeans slide right in, and I can even fold my boot-cut jeans over and tuck them in pretty easily. They hold up great. I've worn them out to splash in puddles with my toddler for about a week and my feet stay perfectly dry. They're also much more comfortable than I thought they would be. We were out of town last weekend, and I forgot to grab another pair of shoes. I wore these all weekend and my feet never hurt. (And I'm flat-footed.)I was in love with an expensive name brand for rubber boots when I started shopping. When I realized I couldn't afford them, and started looking in my price range I didn't expect to find something this good. I'm really happy with these, and really glad I didn't spend more. (If ONLY the "berry" ones had been in my size! Can't win 'em all, I guess.)
I purchased these boots a year ago in Charcoal. Its a plain boot but very comfortable. I can wear them all day, no problem. For me its a close fitting boot. I have a 14.75 inch calf and its not tight but I can't wear them with regular jeans tucked in. Skinny jeans or leggings only. Its much closer fitting than any other type of boot I have and it took a bit getting used to.I get a lot of compliments on them even though they are so plain. Because they are a slim fit I think they are very flattering to the leg and that is why people comment on them. The buckle had always been a problem for me. It kept loosening up and not coming undone but being loose enough to flop around. Then, just a week ago, it completely popped off. I thought I could fix it but with the hubub of the holidays I didn't get around to trying to fix it until just before Christmas. I could not repair it and was pretty dismayed. My husband suggested I see if there was a warranty and I went to the Kamik site to see and was shocked to see there WAS a warranty and dismayed to hear that it was 1-year and I had missed the cutoff by days.Undeterred I sent them an email explaining how it had actually broken the week before and I thought I could fix it so I had put off contacting them and was there any chance I could be covered under the warranty and if not, did they have any suggestions for me on how to reattach it? This was sent on a Monday evening. 20 minutes later a woman responded and asked me for the style/color/size and my address. By the next day my new boots were on their way. I was extremely impressed with the very fast response (2 days before Christmas!) and their willingness to help even though I was technically outside the warranty period. Wonderful wonderful service. I will be buying more of their boots for myself and my family.
The boot seems okay so far, but it is a tight fit. Will not work for someone with really wide feet. My feet are average and it's a tight fit and not easy to get off. I definitely cannot wear thick socks. Maybe ordering a size up could help.
My feet: Narrow. Usually a size 8.5 - 9.I bought: 10These will be fine for now, but just barely.I sized up due to the reviews. Even in the larger size the bridge is crazy tight, uncomfortably, crushingly so. It also makes them hard to get off. This is not a problem I have had before due to the narrowness of my feet. However the length is that of a standard 10 and my heel moves around and rubs even in thick socks. If I size down I would never be able to get them on due to the bridge. But this length makes it feel like I’m wearing clown shoes. I can try some boot socks to take up room but I don’t know if I can add any more bulk and be able to get my foot in.Pros: The color, the recycled rubber, and they are waterproof.Even though the reviews warned me I still picked these because cheap navy blue rain boots are hard to find, and the pink sole was a cute touch that sold me on them. The color pairs adorably with my trench. It’s fun without being too kitschy, and youthful without being overly juvenile. Sophisticated, understated, and fun is a hard balance to strike, and I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity rain boots provide to do something a little different. Also sustainability is very important to me and after reading about the company they seemed like a sustainable alternative to some of the other cheap options out there.Weight: Others commented they are too heavy. Personally I didn’t find the weight to be a problem. They aren’t high end boot light, but they are not problematically heavy. Don’t know if I would go for miles in them, but I got them to walk the dog in the rain and the weight has not been a factor. She is a “large small dog”, so our walks are not terribly long, maybe a mile, occasionally more. For reference, Le Chameau is leagues beyond this in quality, but even in their more fashion forward colors feel a bit too serious and matronly for me.Tl;dr: If they fit they would be perfect. But the fit is genuinely horrible.
