Detailed Review

The Hanwag Men's Climbing Shoes present a robust choice for outdoor enthusiasts. The GORE-TEX lining is particularly commendable as it keeps feet dry during wet conditions, allowing you to tackle any terrain with confidence. The integration of the Vibram sole not only provides excellent grip but also contributes to the cushioning that makes extended wear comfortable.

For those engaging in technical climbing or icy terrain, the compatibility with crampons is a significant advantage, ensuring that you have the necessary gear for challenging environments. Furthermore, the Air-Pulse system introduces a unique element by promoting airflow, which can help keep your feet cool during intense activities.

However, it is worth noting that while the shoes deliver exceptional quality, they do come at a higher price point. This investment is justified when considering their performance and longevity, but it may not suit everyone’s budget. Additionally, the limited color choices could be a drawback for consumers looking for a more personalized touch in their outdoor gear.

I want to love these boots

I want to love these boots. The build quality is top notch! They provide heavy duty support, yet are light weight. The fit seems nearly perfect EXCEPT that the thick leather combined with the rubber rand makes the width very fixed. I have very average width heels (if anything, slightly narrow). My forefoot is average to slightly wider than average. I always order D or normal with shoes and boots, and often times the forefoot takes a little breaking in to stretch and break into my foot. These boots are painful in the forefoot for me because the added rigidity with the rubber rand is preventing the leather from molding to my foot. I've been wearing them around the house for an hour at a time, trying to make them work but it seems to be accomplishing little.

Best Low Alpine Boot

Most comfortable low alpine boots I've found yet. Comfort Comfort Comfort, can't say that enough about these boots. However, because of the rubber rand lining on the outside, forces the boot to be a little narrow and half a size short compared to other boots by this brand without the rubber rand protection, so be aware when choosing your size. Ball bearing lacing is the best for getting your boots to just the right tightness for your feet. Feels great going up and going down. Something about the way Hanwag does the inside of their boots, makes them the most comfortable boot my foot has ever set foot in. Great support for kicking out steps and heel stepping down hill. Waterproof.

Very good quality

These are by far one of the best pair of hiking boots that I have ever bought. They felt great on my feet right out of the box. I will be giving them the real test in a month when I go Big horn sheep hunting in a month.

Great boots but run a little small.

Great boots! Very well made, comfortable and durable. They do run a little small, however. I've been wearing size 11 Meindl's for 10 years, and in Hanwag's I need a size 11 1/2.

Exceptional quality, odd fit

I have a narrow foot and depending on the boot, a size 9 1/2 or 10D has always worked for me. I have size 9 1/2US Meindl's, and size 10US Danner and Lowa. I was really hoping to love this boot. You will not find a higher quality made boot. Mine were tagged made in Germany. After a lot of research and conflicting size information, I ordered the 9.5UK. You can read the Q&A on this boot and see some of the conflicting size recommendations. When my boots arrived, there is a tag inside the boot that says size 9.5UK, 10.5US. I was not expecting this and I have never worn a size 10.5US in my life. I typically wear a light weight liner sock and the boot was loose in the heal when wearing this sock. The boot fit better with a medium weight sock. The toe box is a little narrow which I find odd for a boot like this. I am returning this product due to the odd sizing and fit. I may at a later date try a size 10US but based on the boot I received, I am almost certain it would be too tight in the toe box. If the boot fits you, it is an awesome boot as others have already commented.

Hanwag are well made boots. The toe box is shallow and insole is very thin.

The toe box is shallow. I ordered a 1/2 size larger than my Asolo boots. Boots are what I consider mid weight and not heavy. Read all info on their web site. These boots need a break in period and a good insole. The wrap around rand and vibram sole are nice pluses. The lacing system on these boots really lock onto foot which needs to be considered when adding an insole and hiking socks. These boots seem to run narrow but true to size. Boots are of good quality and should hold upIn rough trrrain.
