Confession here. I was a rest-stop cafe this past summer as we were driving home from NYC. I spotted these shoes, in black, on a seriously stylish woman who must have been in her eighties. She was dressed like something out of a magazine, and the shoes captured my attention immediately. I tried to ask her what the brand was but, alas, she was deaf, so she didn't hear me. A few days later, I got online looking for suede Mary Janes, suede shoes with cut-outs, suede wedges, whatever might work at locating the brand. I finally found them right here on Amazon. The black were more than I wanted to pay, but the turquoise were doable, so I ordered them. I love them. I have forced them to become almost a neutral for me, and I mix them up with black, white, and colors for the fun of it. I will say, Gentle Souls do seem to run large. I also bought a pair of leather gladiator-style heels (another great shoe) and in both, I went down a half-size. Normally an 8.5, I ordered size 8 in both, and the fit is perfect. Let me say, they are extremely comfortable, something I didn't expect, given how stylish they are. The footbed is so cushiony and feels luxurious to the foot. I wore the heels all day, from 11:00 in the morning to 10:00 at night on Thanksgiving, and my feet never hurt for a second, and I was on them just about all of that time, except when I sat down to eat. These wedges also get me through an entire day without a moment of pain. I will probably just decide to keep buying Gentle Souls, despite the price tag, because of the comfort. Luckily, they are also great-looking. Gotta love a shoe company that understands that women want both.
These shoes exceeded my expectations in fit, comfort and style in every way. I have a relatively wide foot at the toes but narrow heel (kind of like duck feet) and these shoes really hide that. I generally wear size 7 M, with only certain shoes fitting given my foot shape, and this 7M fits perfectly. The width is perfect without being tight (the widest point of my foot is just below the leather toe cap). The length fits perfectly and the height is great--slight heel so not totally flat but completely comfortable to walk in. The foot bed is padded and I was able to put them on from day one and walk around all day without any issues. The leather is soft but still gives enough structure to the shoe. I got the camel color and they match everything (color and style-wise). I love them and might get another color...
These are probably the most expensive dress shoes I've ever purchased, BUT you get what you pay for. These feel so comfy on the feet! There is just enough cushioning in these so that your feet don't hurt. I included a photo of the inside of the box lid which desribes the layers of cushioning. They have decent traction. But the best part is how cute they are, zero compromise in comfort and no pain for those who suffer from bunions. They cover just enough of the front foot area where the edges do not dig into my bunion. In fact, none of the edges dig into my feet at all which means no irritation on the skin at the end of the day. Pardon my ugly swollen feet, it was at the end of the day when I took these pics but you can see how they cover my bunion properly. The leather lining is these shoes give them an absolutely luxurious feel. If you must go sockless in a shoe, it's always best to have a leather sole as it absorbs moisture and keeps your feet dry.
The Gentle Souls Lily Moon Wedge is a gorgeous, retro, comfy shoe- but the fit for me was a little off. A size 9 puts my toes at the front of the toebox, where they are squeezed a bit by the pointed toe (where the "peep" part resides)A size 9 1/2 moves my toes away from that, and is more comfortable, but it is also too big- and my toes don't show up in the "peep" toe at all, and the shoe flops around on me. I think my problem resides in the fact that these are narrow in the toebox, with a strong angle to the point/peep toe, and my toes are not.I am going to keep the nine and hope that I can stretch the very soft leather to accommodate my toes. (and I have boney feet, so it's not like there's a lot of flesh...)Super comfy otherwise, though- with really supple leather. Nicely made. Great with retro skirts/dresses/capris. I'm going to wear them around the house with socks on and hope that will stretch the toe out.*****edited to add: They did stretch out, and now they are among the most comfortable shoes I own. I hope that Gentle Souls keeps making these, especially in lots of colors. I have two, but I fear I need more. Gentle Souls, please make colors in the kid leather also!Every time I wear these someone asks me where I got them.
This is my second pair of Lily Moon shoes by Gentle Souls. I bought my first pair (elsewhere) in an embossed metallic for my daughter's wedding. Such comfort and style! (She even liked these buttery-soft shoes better than hers, and my shoes were still on my feet at the end of the evening!) I can no longer wear "heels", so the low wedge of the Lily Moon was a wonderful find. And I absolutely love the retro peep toe and cut out in the back of the shoe. My foot is a bit wide in the front, but I have a narrow heel. The thin strap on this style is both comfortable and practical keeping the shoes on and great for dancing. When I found the same style in black suede here on Amazon, I just had to buy them! My new favorite shoes!
I have 2 pairs of Gentle Souls shoes. I love the brand. They are good looking.
I have these in 3 colors and I just bought a similar Gentle Souls style on Amazon - they are incredibly comfortable with no break-in period (and I have problem feet). I would buy more colors if they became available. Highly recommended. True to size.
