Black is lovely, although I worry that the leather is SO soft that it may not be super durable and for those who prefer a structured leg, do note that the boots are slightly slouchy if your calves don't fill the boot tightly enough. As for the foot, I am typically a size 9 but bought a 9.5 hoping for a roomier toe box, which worked out well, and I have space for thick socks and/or slim insoles as well. I am 5'7 and these boots come halfway up my knee. I wish they were shorter. You can fold the top over either outside for a cuff, or inside, so the cuff is concealed, but to my eye, it looks—possibly—a tiny bit sloppy when folded either way. Also, there is a rather visually prominent logo on a tab of grosgrain ribbon which does show when you cuff the tops and it looks a little...oh, I guess "sporty" for a pair of semi-dressy boots. The square toe is a true 90s style square, which I wanted for the look and the comfort, as opposed to the tapered square toe that seems to be the 2022 incarnation of that style. Bottom line, I'm on the fence because they are so wide for my (super skinny) leg and so tall. But...I think I will probably keep them. They are very similar to the Intentionally Blank Cou Cou boot (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09GPHTCXQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2BMBHD2OU3XDU&psc=1), which has a shorter shaft and more rigid leather, but these are more comfortable...must be something about the pitch from heel to toe.
Gorgeous in the Putty color but too tight for my right calf. These will not work with a calf larger than 15.5 inches or so esp if you're full around the lower leg and ankle.
