This is another great Ecco shoe. If you think it's too pricey, think about going through 3 pairs of shoes before these guys give out.Quality:Best boot leather. Very strong. The inner Gortex lining keeps my feet dry, as advertised. The outer sole hasn't broke down yet and I've been wearing these every other day for the past year. Very difficult to scratch and scuff.Comfort:It's an Ecco shoe! The sole and arch support hold up very well over time. Nice and roomy for men with medium to wide feet. You can put inserts and don't feel like you're walking on volcanic rock. My feet sweat less with these boots. No chaffing on the ankle. Nice cushioned and soft lip on the ankle.Fit:My only gripe. They are a bit snug at the tip of the foot. The leather will eventually stretch and you will find a sweet spot of how tight to tie the laces.I would recommend this boot if you work in an office in the Fall time. Water proof, dark, and comfortable.
I just got these delivered, and just in time, since it snowed here not too long ago! So here's my take on them, after wearing them around in the house and out for some errands:Nothing fancy about these boots, just a great feeling/great looking pair of shoes that will look good at the office with slacks and also works with jeans. Here's the first thing I noticed when I put them on - they feel like I am walking on a cloud... More like a gym shoe than boots! Light and comfortable, they hug my feet nicely but there is plenty of room for my toes. Here's the second thing I noticed - great workmanship, like every other Ecco I own! There's not a flaw on these boots, and no need to 'break them in' as they felt good the moment I put them on and stayed comfortable for hours! Is there a third thing I noticed? Yeah, big smile on my face! Coupled with Goretex, so happy I bought these! Let it snow... Not too heavily though, I still need to drive to work :-)
I have had these boots for a few weeks now. I originally ordered my regular size (9) but they were too big. I sent them back and went a size lower and now they fit fine. I have not had them in wet weather yet but I have gotten quite a few compliments on how they look. They aren't the most comfortable boots I have ever had but even on the first 8 hour day of wearing them they were fine. I didn't have any comfort issues. I like these boots and I would recommend them to others.
I initially ordered a different brand of Chukka boot, but the first ones didn't fit my thick feet. They were too tight around the middle even with the laces fully loosened. The ECCO GTX boot was my second choice (because of the cost) but they fit like a glove. These are amazingly comfortable boots. They fit my thick feet with the laces slightly loosened, but there is ample adjustment that they would likely fit average size feet as well. There is no break-in required with these boots. They fit and flex nicely right out of the box. I will use them for cold weather walks and easy hikes with my dog. They are attractive enough to use for business casual dress as well. I am a happy customer!
I like the styling and the fact that they are Ecco and have GorTex. I didn't like that while they are comfortable, I hold Eccos to a higher standard of comfort than other shoes. While they are comfortable, I expected to feel like I was walking on pillows...didn't happen. The removable inserts look and feel cheap and I personally expected them to have more padding. Decent boot, but for the money I expected more.
Bought this boot/shoe for a 2-week trip to Europe. I usually wear Ecco size 43 and this fit exactly as I had expected in a size 43. I've had the shoes for over a month now and they are my "everything" shoe, that is, I wear them for everything except the gym. They look great with jeans or dress pants. Wearing them every day to work, all day. Walked all over Madrid, Pamplona, Barcelona and Rome and they felt great. When climbing the paths above Monserrat I could feel the stones through the soles. For serious hiking, I recommend a thicker sole. I kept thinking I was scuffing them up but they looked great, still look great. I took a brush to them this week and they are like new.
I can walk through puddles with these, no problem. We have been through such a long drought that when it started raining recently suddenly there were problems. I saw my foolish co-worker break out a small plastic bag with a dry pair of socks in them, and I realized there's a good idea somewhere in there. I needed a water proof barrier to keep my socks dry, while not having to carry them around like a complete dork and then have to change socks in the middle of the day. Gore-tex will keep my socks dry, and unlike a plastic bag, it will let my feet breathe. Sometimes when I walk through a puddle, I think I feel my feet getting wet but it is all in my head, because if I take these shoes off my feet will be dry. It's very nice, worth the extra buck. Gore-tex is not good when it is hot and dry outside, which it has been here for so long that I forgot how much I needed it when it started raining more seriously lately. I already had these in brown and ordered this pair after the rain became much worse. I ordered them in the usual European size as the other Eccos I have bought, all of which fit very nicely.
This is my 5th pair of Ecco brand boots and, once again, I am very happy with them! The leather on this style is softer than I expected but still very durable. The soles are well made and all of the stitching is perfect. Because of my high arches, I use a custom insoles, but the ones that came with the boots are quite nice – thin layer of leather over an ECCO "Comfort Fibre System™" pad.The only thing I would change are the laces. However, the one's that come with the boots work well and don't seem to untie themselves.
