The boot has a nondescript profile/appearance with a fairly wide toe box, certainly not a fashion boot. There is plenty of width to replace the insert with something more substantial and/or wear a thicker pair of socks. The sole is lightweight (part of the reason I substituted a firmer insert) so probably not suited to go up and down a mountainside. But with the water-resistant leather, thinking this is going to work as a good basic boot to go with jeans while out and about in the weather. I was hoping for a slightly more stylish boot, but decided that these are good enough in the end.
