I have been purchasing Dunham NewBalance dress shoes for over ten years. These are perfect for the business man or my student with larger feet who needs dress shoes (prom, graduation, school performances, wedding, work, a nicer shoe). My men have wider feet 11.5 5E - 14 2E and walking around for lengthier times, business travel, etc. they (3) have shared that these shoes are more comfortable, actually all the Dunham shoes are. We have bought the lace up shoes without seams as well. As a wife/mother, I want these guys to have the most comfortable shoe and Dunham has come through for that while looking stylish. My 6'4" football player, wears the 14-2E, and he said "fits like a glove, not too tight and not too loose."
My 3rd pair. Give them a few miles to break in and they are great. You have to break them in. Otherwise if i reviewed off the first few times wearing them, probably a three star. They are pretty stiff brand new. But very comfortable (after breakinf them in) waterproof, great grip. Classy look. Looks good in jeans or dress pants. I just threw out my first pair after 6 years. Wore them every day to work at the office. The soles never had holes. The interior had a few spots of wear. I am hard on my shoes. I climb a lot of stairs for exercise every day at work, and these were what i wore. Used them for shallow snow shoveling (yes I shoveled in dress shoes and sweats). I will buy again when these current ones are thrown away. I have both a black and brown pair. Both are fantastic
UPDATE: 3/27/14Amazon contacted me and honored the discount so I repurchased these shoes in size 8.5 which fit better. I also purchased the Dillion shoes in the same size but the Dillion has a larger opening which made the shoe slip out more. I've owned these shoes now for about 1 month and can comment that they are very light weight and comfortable. They aren't as comfortable as a sneakers but I am starting to doubt I can find one that will feel like sneakers. I believe it has something to do with the leather top which you need as a dress shoe. The Leather has developed small creases around the toe area and time will tell if it becomes worse or not.I polished the shoe twice which gives it a nice shine, but you do notice the soles more since they can't be shined, which was why I wanted the Dillion shoes for the smaller soles. So far I am impressed with the comfort and there was no need to replace the inserts. I wear them in an office environment and haven't felt the need to take them off like I did with my Rockports. I've changed my review from 3 stars to 4 stars since I've had more time to review them. I can't comment on durability which is what keeps me from giving it a 5 star rating.*******************************************************************************************************I am on a quest to find comfortable dress shoes and I was hoping that I had found them with Dunham shoes. These pair were comfortable and lightweight, however I only got the chance to wear them for 5 minutes. During that time I was impressed with the comfort and thought they were better than my Rockports I bought 2 years ago and the Clarks I tried before ordering these. I typically wear size 10-11 sneakers and ordered these in size 9. My heel area was loose and since these were slip on shoes I was afraid they would either fall off our cause me to trip if I ran. I wanted to exchange them for size 8.5 but I could not. I wanted to give a higher rating but since I did not have them for long term I can only give it 3 stars.I actually bought 2 pairs of different Dunham shoes (these and the Dillion) since they were on sale. They would only allow the option to return and not exchange. I spoke to Customer Support and they said I can only return both pairs of shoes and order a new pair which meant I would lose my promotion; I asked Customer Support if I should have ordered 3 different pairs around my size to make sure I found one that fit and then return the ones that don't...the answer was that it was one solution. So I guess the lesson is if any shoes on amazon are on sale order multiple pairs so you don't have to deal with losing your promotion. I really wanted to get a good pair of shoes but I won't order them at full price since I know I can get them at a discount. The other lesson from this is that it is better to buy shoes from the local store so you don't have to deal with the hassle of returns and not knowing which shoes don't fit.I may hunt these pairs of shoes down at the local department stores if they are on sale and will come back to revise my review.
These were almost what I was looking for - a replacement for a similar model of Dunham when they were made by New Balance. They're versatile, decent, casual shoes I can wear to an office job or out for a beer, with slacks or with jeans. Most importantly, they're comfortable for walking around at least a moderate amount.
I love these shoes. They are exactly what I've wanted in a dress shoe. It looks good and feels amazing. You can feel the influence of New Balance in these shoes. When the time comes for a new pair of shoes, it will be Dunhams. They DO run large. I'm normally a 9 1/2 but wound up with a 9 2e.
Something wrong with the base of the shoe?!!!! It feel unleveled and has inconsistency in sole of the shoe. I have tried to replace the inserts with a high quality foam but it still makes my foot hurt. Only one shoe has this issue the other seems to be fine but when I step I can feel the ridges and bumps on the jabbing into my foot. Not happy. BUT the rest of the shoe seems nice and quality. Maybe I got a bad batch.
The shoes fits comfortably as expected for my 2E shoes and it is very light. However, the shoes bites the back of ankles and it hurts. Now it doesn't hurt because dead skin has formed where the biting happens.I think that you need to downsize this shoes by 0.5 if you are getting 2E. Most of the shoes I wear like sports shoes are size 9 - 9.5 mainly due to the width. So I got the same size 9 2E for this shoes and it is pretty loose now. now I realized that if I had gotten 8.5 2E which will fit better and maybe it doesn't bite.
I used Ecco shoes exclusively for years because I have chronic ankle and foot pains from walking and standing all day at work. Over the last few years I've felt the quality of Ecco has declined, to the point that the last pair of them I bought caused me almost daily pain. Frustrated I decided to try a wider shoe. I ordered these in my size (13) with EE width. They fit like a dream. The extra width is what I think I've been missing all my life. These felt great right out of the box and I've had no foot pain or ankle pains in the 3-4 weeks I've been wearing them. I didn't notice any of the sizing issues other mentioned. In fact they were exactly the same length as the last pair of Ecco 13's I ordered.
