Just ordered my second pair of these less than a month after the first to make sure I have another pair when I need them. They are extremely comfortable to wear after your first couple miles of walking. They were a little stiff to start, because of the level of support. I was very impressed the second time I wore them. Good grip with the sole and a very comfortable shoe inside. They are in fact waterproof. Again I just bought a backup pair because I like them so much. The biggest thing to note is they do run at least a half a size small. A "wide" selection was not available when I purchased. I am a solid size 8 normally. I had to order 8.5 to gain the width required.
I bought these expressly for a recent hiking trip that was both rigorous and wet. They performed very well.I know these shoes say “waterproof,” as do thousands of other pairs, but I never fully expect that to be the case. By-and-large, these did seem to be waterproof, at least until I had water spill over the top cuff of the shoe. They are very definitely water resistant.More importantly, they are immensely comfortable. They feel like snug slippers that wrap around and protect my feet. They have a pretty good grip. I will say that they are better suited for trails than roads. I more recently walked about 8 miles on pavement—(don’t ask)—and while they were comfortable, my feet were getting warm by the end. There were also some odd pressure points at various points on my feet, probably due to the aforementioned snugness. Here’s the TLDR version: I’ll probably buy a backup pair of these, because I love them, especially at the under $50 price point.
I absolutely love these shoes. Bought them for a trip to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Zion. I’ve put on about 40-50 miles in these shoes, with mixed miles on dirt and streets. About half these miles were with my 35lb 3 year old, and 8lb carrier on my back. They have been great. No pain in my feet, felt completely stable, and comfortable. Couple times on my hikes I stepped wrong and the boot saved me from rolling my ankle. As for the waterproof feature, I can back it 100%. On our trip, we had rain, snow, mud, hiked several miles in snow, and a play day in the snow. With my pants tucked in the shoes, my feet stayed dried the whole time. A few times snow was up to my shins and I was fine. After an hour I did feel the cold, but again my feet stayed dried. Only issue I had with the shoes, is due to the toe box being kind of narrow. If my socks are not perfectly on, I can feel the toe seem of my socks rubbing the shoes. I only get that feeling with narrow shoes. With these I just have to readjust my socks and I’m fine. Highly recommend them. Another big plus, they were pretty easy to clean Zion mud off of.
Nice sneaker, getting ready for NY winter snow with another stylish casual on the go sneaker. But, ran small I'm a solid size 10 this was right to the toe and the with was tighter than expected. There was some construction issues I saw looking more into it. The quality was less than expected from @Columbia .com uneven stitching and pattern cut was off as well. Ordering another size up hoping the next batch is consistent
They began to flake and tear IMMEDIATELY so they lost any “waterproofing” they are also very thick foam and earned me the nickname “paddle foot”I took a gamble on these and I lost.Columbia is very difficult 4-6 weeks before you can get money back on warranty. And I HAVE TO PAY TO SHIP THESE BROKEN SHOES AND “CLEAN THEM” I’m FURIOUS!WHAT SHOES AM I GOING TO WEAR?!? I cannot afford to buy new shoes after blowing the whole wad on shoes that blew out within DAYSWell I bought some cheap ones from target that are blowing these out of the water (and actually waterproof for less than half of what these cost)The tips started to peel off very quickly, and I started bringing grass into my house and my cat ate it.It also is VERY heavy foam. They look and say lightweight, but compared to say Salomon, they are HEAVY. The foam is hot, and they do NIT support your ankle, instead the way it is constructed, it has on tight spot around the top of the ankle and nothing rigid underneath and that digs into you ankle like tying a stri g around your ankle. The tips peel off, causing a trip hazard and get filled with crap, and as those peel off you will get crack on the toe because the material is brittle and not at all flexible. These are by far the most expensive BAD “boots” I have ever purchased. We will see if I can get my money back. I have my doubts.Maybe I might get some “store credit” so I can enjoy another pair of god awful footwear only to have to buy another pair a couple weeks later.Customer service has been EXTREMELY unhelpful.I am simply out 100 bucks and a pair of shoes. If you’re going to wear maybe 2 hours a day to look outdoorsy, sure.If your trying to buy shoes to use as shoes… BUY SOMETHING ELSE!
I wore these on a recent trip to Galapagos and Machu Picchu. I was so glad to have the additional support around my ankles. I walked over very rough lava rock and these boots had great grip. I never slipped in these even on wet rocks. I looked at the soles and they were not chewed up by the sharp lava rock. At home, I washed them and the removable insoles. They don't seem to have any odor issues. I found that light socks are the most comfortable. Heavier socks give a snugger fit, which I find uncomfortable if I'm sitting for long periods, e.g. on a plane. Putting them on and removing require you to loosen the top half of the laces. They tie neatly, but require you to do a final knot with the loops to keep them from dragging on the ground. They stayed tied and snug during hours of hiking. These are light boots, and water tight. The color I chose is great, and I think these are a great buy for the occasional hikes.
Great fit and looks nice on feet also very comfy.
