I have worn these mostly every day to work for 3 months, and around town after. They are comfortable, very soft and durable leather, and look great! Lots of compliments. I like the 2 tone color, and have polished twice, keeping the toe a darker brown. I'd definitely get another pair. They do run about 1/2 to 1 full size big, but I knew that from previous reviews so I ordered taking that into account. Two points: The leather sole under the arch where the rubber ends was pretty slick when new, especially when going up stairs. Caught me off guard. They also have steel shanks inside the leather sole, so if you need to go through metal detectors at work, count on removing your shoes daily (like me). I don't mind because these shoes are just too cool!
These are great shoes! I've been wearing these just about every day for my job for over a year now. The leather is good. They look good, and very durable. The only issue i have and why i rated a 4 out of 5 stars is because there's no arch support. After being on my feet too long or when i walk around my lower back starts to hurt, there's no arch support. You may need to buy a or shoe insert orthotic. But i would still buy another pair after my current ones get too worn out.
Cole Haan has become my dress shoe of choice and, with the enticement of the Amazon seasonal promotion discount, I figured the price was close enough to cheaper brands (Clarks, etc.) to give it a shot. What a great shoe! Certainly not for a professional suit, but anything less and these look great. The java is a deep rich brown and the wood/leather heel and sole give them a look that can be dressed up or down. Very versatile. Way better looking and way better quality than most non-dress shoes I've tried. They are going to see lots of use!Fit is typical Cole Haan. The toes is rounded, so there is more room than their wingtips. My advice is to order a 1/2 size down. I normally wear 12.5 and the 12 fits great with adequate room. Great shoe.
I got a pair of the java color at a low price @$65 or so. I have had them for over a year now. They still don't feel broken in even after a year of use and feel stiff. I also need to use an additional insole inside because the insole is thin and uncomfortable. The biggest problem, however, is they are unsafe due to grip issues. It was drizzling here and the sidewalks were wet. I almost slipped and fell multiple times, even while I was walking carefully to avoid slipping. Be very careful when it is wet or walking down stairs! Not nearly as comfortable or as good a grip as my old clark's bushacre desert boots.
Pros:++ Soft and buttery leather requires no break-in period;++ Contrast white stitching looks great on the black boot;++ Bottom (sole) is almost slip-proof;++ Works well with jeans or with a jacket and slacks;++ Handsome looks that will not go out of style anytime soon; and++ Great for people who have thin heels (width) and require a large toe box.Cons:-- No arch support whatsoever; will only fit a paper thin orthotic as the insoles are not removeable;-- Runs one half size large;-- Inside of tongue seems like vinyl or "pleather" rather than real leather. One other reviewer also notes this;-- Same buttery and comfortable leather as in the pros section seems like it can rip rather easily; and-- Chinese factory glue present where the shoe upper leather meets the sole.In summary, order one half size lower than you normally purchase. If buying something made in China isn't your thing, these are not for you. I'm not deducting a star for country of manufacture; just informing as some don't like to purchase items made in China. The Amazon description does NOT list country of origin.I'm a size 10 1/2 in a lace-up boot and a size 10 fits perfectly. These have a very large toe box and thin (width) heel. Factory glue is present where the leather meets the top of the sole. Don't get this boot if you require arch support or require orthotics. At the current discount price of under $80 on Amazon, these rate three stars in my book. What would make these rate four or five stars is any kind of arch support or the ability to remove the insoles and add your own orthotics for much better support.
These shoes provide no grip whatsoever! I slipped and fell in them. During this fall, I lacerated the nerves and tendons in my pinkie finger. I had to have surgery and have been going to physical therapy for over 2 months now. I don't recommend these shoes at all due to their grip. Aesthetically and comfort-wise, they do receive higher remarks.
These shoes look and feel great! The color is beautiful - a nice grey that is unique, but not distracting. Very appropriate for everyday wear. As expected with Cole Haan, but they seem to be high quality and were comfortable out of the box. Be warned that they do run a little large. I went down a half size and it seems appropriate, but maybe a touch roomy. They also come with two sets of laces - a braided off-white pair and a pair that is closer to the color of the boots themselves.
I have 2 pair of Cole Haan Chukkas (as well as many other pairs of their shoes), and these are perfect. I usually buy them 1/2 size smaller than my actual shoe size and have had no problems at all. They fit perfectly right out of the box and are incredibly comfortable. I've gone a little crazy buying their shoes lately. I have 2 pair of each shoe that I buy, usually one black and one brown (or similar). These look great with jeans, chinos or dress slacks. Awesome buy.
