Clarks Women's Haley Stork Fisherman Flat Review

I broke my femur at the knee and surgery was not an option. For months I was on bed rest while it healed. When I finally started walking without the aid of crutches and a cane, I wore the only shoes of mine that I thought would be comfortable. I was wrong. For weeks I was miserable, limping, in pain, ankle swelling and desperate. I decided the shoes I had had too much cushion and that wasn't helping my knee. So I started researching shoes. The Clark's were highly rated by Podiatrists and wearers alike so I took a chance and ordered a pair. I usually wear an 8 or 8 1/2 depending on the brand. Since some reviewers stated these ran small, I erred on the side of caution and ordered the 8 1/2. Perfect fit in length and width.Right out of the box they felt like a miracle! There's a gentle heel cushion but not a thick one. There's very little cushion in the insoles which feel better on my feet but enough there that they're comfortable. I've worn them for 8-10 hours a day for two days and I cannot believe the difference in the way my knee feels! I can now walk on gravel without pain and dread. My limp is gone as I'm walking better and not overcompensating. My ankle still swells some but not as bad as in the other shoes. These shoes are comfortable, stylish and goes with everything. They really are no slip soles too. If you've had a terrible knee injury or just want comfortable shoes, I suggest you try Clark's. I'm already searching for my next pair.

Finally! I actually bought these for my mom. I have a pair just like them but it's the Haley Moon style 7M. Same thing though. My mom's health has declined and her feet have gotten wider and sore over time. She also has callouses. I tried mine on her bare feet and they fit, but ordered her the 7W and they work better for her especially since she has to wear socks. I have purchased other shoes for her, even extra wide and they didn't work. She hasn't complained yet and walks fine in them. I say that because walking for her is kind of hard because her feet have become heavy and is used to walking in slippers, but her slippers are getting worn and she needed shoes with a little more support, but still like a slipper. We have to help put them on her and they stretch all around for easy on/off. My personal review since I have same shoe: These shoes are flexible so they feel like they're walking with me. They are minimal shoes, so there really isn't any arch support, but they feel like a slipper and they do have a little cushioning. I have taken my dogs for walks in them up and down the street and actually find them more comfortable than my tennis shoes. I can wear them all day long - longer than I can in "A good pair of shoes or tennis shoes." I have plantar fascitis with a little pronation (feet go inward a little) and have come to realize for me instead of keep getting special orthotic shoes, high arches, or shoes with a lot of rubber/foam, why not strengthen my feet instead. Other shoes may feel good for a little while, but I found that my feet became more fatigued quicker in shoes with a lot of rubber/foam. Then I got to thinking, "Of course they do. That rubber/foam is holding up my whole body weight of 160 lbs. After a while, it's going to lose some of its density and won't give proper support and can actually weaken my arch." That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. ;) but not to mention it's working for me. I can put them on while standing, pick up my leg then finish slipping it on correctly with one finger. Easy on/off - love it. They're not exactly the cutest, but they do look decent. I wear them barefoot and do sweat after a while, but it takes a while. I just take them off for a little while and let my feet cool and then back on and I'm good again. I'm not sure if there is a perfect anti-sweat shoe out there anyway. Mine are in black and I plan to get the blue. I know these shoes aren't for everyone, but I think you will enjoy them.

This is another good shoe from Clarks. The length runs true to size with other Clarks which I've worn for years. The missing 5th star is only because it runs narrow for a "wide" shoe so needs to be tried on before being sure (thanks Amazon for your free Prime shipping and returns). It's the toe box that is on the snug side compared to other wide shoes. I have a bunion on one foot and this shoe hits where there is elastic give so it's working for me. I have been comfortable wearing the shoe for full days but I have learned through long experience that my bunion is happy as long as I don't wear the same shoe style two days in a row as the pressure points are different in each shoe style. The heel holds with some slippage (not a problem so far - just a different feel). The heel is held in because of the elastic and is much better than too large a heel. While it has the bumpy footbed (which I usually don't like) it has been very comfortable and I don't plan to change it out which is an option. There is no obvvious arch support per se but I find it snugs my high arch very nicely because of the side shaping and how the bands attach around the arch area. I really do like this and it feels very supportive. So far I've found the tread good on concrete and not slippery. The only place I've had to watch is on a slate sidewalk in front of a local business on a rainy day - yes, slippery. Very nice shoe and, yes, I would definitely recommend them - already have. The quality of the shoe is up to Clarks' good standards.
