This is the single best boot for the money. I also own a pair of the chukka style, desert boot in suede, I think the higher ankle option on the desert Mali boot is definitely an upgrade. These boots are far better quality, and look much more premium in person, I was shocked when I opened the box, the leather is very high quality, it's thick, and sturdy, yet the break in time is quick. The desert Mali is extremely comfortable, even more so than the chukka boot. I recommend leaving them as is, protectant sprays will degrade the look of the beeswax. For upkeep, (leather option) I recommend saddle soap and kiwi boot wax, those two products applied every few months will keep these boots looking brand new for years. Awesome boot! At this price point you won't find any better.
Great boots with consistent quality. I have had other Clarks Desert boots and have not been let down. Theybreak in nicely, are super comfortable, develop a nice patina and require minimal maintenance.I thought I would give the Leaf color a try. The stock images give the idea they are nearly black. The are not. They start out a very dark, waxy green. Similar to a maple leaf. After a couple weeks of wear they creases develop and the get lighter, olive drab tone. The image I included is after about 3 weeks of wear. The look pretty good with jeans or khakis, but they are green-ish.
These boots are decent. They offer a typical Clarks fit in length (about 1/2 size smaller than most branded shoes). I wear an 11 1/2 consistently (often a 12 in Nikes) and I ordered these in 11 (as I do with all my Clarks shoes). The length is good but they are really narrow. I have moderately wide feet, so I am between wide widths and standard widths with my shoes. Clarks (like Florsheim and Skechers Relaxed Fit) typically have a wider toe box. These boots do not. I am hoping they'll stretch a little with wear. The leather is fairly thin, so I feel that they will. I ordered them in the "Leaf" color and they were spot-on with my expectation... sort of a dark olive/moss color with a hint of evergreen. As other reviewers have noted, the leather does wear quickly. Cracks and wear marks show almost immediately and are highly visible. I am fine with this look because these are casual boots for me (jeans/chinos). The style of these boots is not geared for dress attire. The lighter "gum" sole and distressed leather do not lend themselves to a dress-look. They are ideal for simple, casual wear. If you don't like a worn/distressed look, don't go with these boots. If you have a wide(r) foot, do not go with these boots. For all others, I think they're a good choice for casual style and comfort.
This is the first time in a long time that a 12 was large on my foot. I sometimes wear 13, and thought 12 would be appropriate. It was a little loose on the foot. Wearing thicker socks will help. But is a comfortable boot. And made well.
Great pair of shoes. Fits true to size and width, UK standards, whatever you wear in Nike minus one, i.e. 13-1=12. The color is more brown than bronze. These are very comfortable and do not weigh too much. No break in is required for the correct size, if it's not right the first time it will never be. Clarks crepe sole and leather upper combine to create a sensation of walking on clouds. Highly recommended for moderate temperatures because the leather is thin and does not provide much resistance for colder climates. Cannot believe I got them for thirty dollars.
I wear Clarks Bushacre 2 in 9.5. Got these in 9 and they fit perfectly. I would highly recommend these boots to anyone. I normally wear arches in my shoes and I don't need to in these. Took about a day and a half of wear to break them in but they are very comfortable.
I wore these boots one time and the insoles rolled up like worn out bandaids. I’ve had wallabes and other clark shoes for years. I won’t order them again if this is how cheaply their products are being made now. If I could give the quality of these shoes negative stars I would.
Worth it! Don’t waste your money on cheap shoes, if you want to look nice on a casual occasion or good on a night out these are the shoes to wear. The creases will form right away so don’t get mad at that, it actually gives the shoes a great look and builds character. If you have sensitive feet I suggest getting a new pair of in soles.
