Clarks Men's Escalade Step: $54.47 for a Men’s 10.5 pair at the time of reviewClarks have been around for a long time. A lot longer than I have. I remember my dad buying pairs of Clarks when I was a kid. Thankfully, like all good long term brands, Clarks has adapter to modern styling so these ain’t your daddy’s Clarks. When I needed a new pair of dress shoes for a desk job with a dress code, the first name I thought of was Clarks.*What I liked*:The styling on these is great. It has a kind of classic look with the squared toe but modern lines and contours to fit my feet better. They are comfortable. This was a major prerequisite of any pair of dress shoes that I was going to have to wear five days a week. I was taking two walks a day to break up the day of sitting at a desk and these did just fine for my little 15 minute 1-ish mile diversion. The price is right. At just over $50 bucks, these shoes are not gonna break the bank.*What I didn't like*:The only knock I have on them is that they seemed to scuff somewhat easily. This is mitigated by a nice shoe care/shine kit. For $10 bucks you can keep them looking like new. I just spent 5 minutes every Sunday evening buffing and polishing them. Tip top shape.*The Bottom Line:*Like much of the world, my regular days in an office ended with the onset of the COVID pandemic as I transitioned to work from home. But I still have my Clarks. These days they only get taken out for special occasions, but they still look just as good. As an added bonus, I don’t have to polish them nearly as often. These shoes earn all five stars out of five. I’d definitely buy these over again.
I wear these shoes every day. They are my house shoes. They fit fine, have held up very well, and are actually comfortable enough to wear all day every day.Yes, they did squeek for a few days, but a few trips out to the mailbox fixed that. I suggest scuffing them on concrete just a bit. Oddly enough, using them breaks them in, just like shoes. Mine are no longer slippery. The footbeds are shallow but enough for casual walking. These are not athletic shoes or even work shoes. They are really more for loafing. I do a lot of loafing. If you are wearing these for walking all day every day at work, like a nurse, then you should know better. Shame on you!Mine did not split at the seams, wear out in days, or any such nonsense. They are growing only more comfortable with time. They have real leather that will adjust to your foot, so again, just like real shoes.I suggest buying a pair that actually fits the size of your feet and not trying to force your feet into the wrong size. These do not lace up like athletic shoes, so measure accurately. If you happen to have extra big round feet, maybe try a style of shoe that is NOT intended to be snug around the top of your foot. After months of constant use, these shoes clearly show the shape of my foot, but no signs of stress. I have clumsily crushed my foot into them enough that the back edge is a bit bent, but that is my fault for not caring enough to use a shoe horn. Once my foot is in there, even that is not noticeable. And really, if you are looking that close at the back of my shoes, what's wrong with you?I'll never know how these shoes were back in the day, but I know what is on my feet right now. These are simply good loafers. I'm told they look a bit too nice to be wearing around the house, but that just aint going to stop me. I wear them with everything and anything. Women compliment them and men make no complaints. That's more than I ask of an inexpensive shoe.
These shoes are very high quality and, unlike most shoes that hurt my feet before I break them in, These shoes felt very comfortable the first time I wore them. Also, the quality of build is excellent!
Pretty good shoe. Never did quite mold to my foot shape entirely, but it is fairly comfortable. No issues with anything coming apart or quality control issues. Don't think I've ever polished them and they still look good a year later. Am thinking about getting another pair as they wear well. Good bang for the buck as $70 doesn't get you much of a dress shoe anymore. Plus they came in a wide width which I need.
Clarks have always been a good fit for me. My foot runs wide and I have a high arch and instep. This is a nice quality soft leather shoe. They look really nice with any pair of pants. I like the insole which I found to be comfortable. This is the first time I have ordered a pair of shoes on line! I always have to try on both pair since my left foot is larger than my right. So I took a chance and since Clarks usually fit well I ordered this pair. They fit out of the box and I didn't have break them in. I was in the shoes for 14 hrs the first time I wore them. The dogs were definitely tired by the end of the day and wanted out but that was to be expected after all that time. So for me they are a great shoe and if your feet are like mine I highly recommend them! Cheers
Shoe fits and feels great comfortable to walk in. I usually wear an eight to an 8 1/2 so I ordered an eight it fit like a 10 so I ordered a seven it fit perfect very nice shoe very well-made. I haven’t worn it a lot it’s mainly for church, but they’re very comfortable. Very stable and are actually made of leather.
This is my second pair of these. I wear them so often that they were getting worn out. I got my first pair at Macy's but they don't sell them anymore, so glad I found them on Amazon.
The shoes were a gift for our son. Both he and his wife are happy with them, stating that they look great with dress pants or with blue jeans. In fact, he enjoys them so much, he has ordered a second pair to alternate wearing.
