Detailed Review

The Chippewa Men's 73100 Lace-To-Toe Logger Boot excels in several critical areas that make them an outstanding choice for both outdoor work and fashion. Let’s break down the specifics:

Comfort: Initially, these boots may feel stiff, but that’s expected with high-quality leather. Many users report that once broken in, they provide excellent support and comfort during long hours of wear.

Durability: Built to last, the Goodyear welt construction ensures longevity and the ability to resole when needed. The leather holds up well against abrasions and weather, making these boots a valuable investment.

Traction: The Vibram sole delivers superior grip on various surfaces, whether you’re hiking through mud or working on slippery floors. This feature alone makes the Chippewa boots stand out in terms of safety and reliability.

Style: With a classic logger design, these boots are not only functional but also stylish. They pair well with both work attire and casual outfits, making them versatile enough for multiple settings.

Nice boots

Went with these over Red Wings because I like the lace to toe adjustability. Sizing seems right. Tennis shoe size for me is 9.5-10. These are 9.5 wide and allow me to wear wool socks and have a snug yet comfortable fit. Very pleased.

Best value in waterproof logging boots!

I have had 3 pair of these exact logging boots spread out over 10 years...each pair lasting 3-4 years. I am hard on boots...in the woods everyday, fighting western wild fires in the summer--due to my age this latest pair of boots will never smell smoke! smile. My first pair were American made....my last two were made in China. No difference in quality. I buy American when I can but am also very particular about my boots. The 73100 design absolutely matches my foot shape exactly. I have a high arch and wide foot. The 9E are good feeling right out of the box and within 3 weeks are EXCELLENT feeling. The ankle does not stretch out from working on steep hillsides, the stitching stays tight, the soles put up with rocks and logs. I REALLy like the way the welt of the leather has the "lip" facing upwards...long gone are the days of walking on stobs and ripping at the leather seams....stobs simply can't grab the lip...all boots should be sewn like this. The waterproofing is good....but by year 3 your foot can get a bit damp if you wade in a creek for more then a few minutes. A quick step through the water will not get your foot wet. I think this is a factor of grit and dirt wearing the Chipatex booty...for the first 2 years you can wade and stay dry....just something about the third year that lets them weep just a bit. For the record, I found the same issues with Goretex booties.I have guys who buy Wesco and Whites....both high quality boot companies. They spend $300-$400 per pair. I can buy 2-3 pair of Chippewa 73100 for that. Those guys also have HORRIBLE boot-bite as they break theirs in....I don't. There boots do last an additional year...but I credit that with me working harder then they do! smile. Seriously, those boots are a bit higher quality but, as you can tell from my review, the price of the "W" boots does not warrant this slightly higher quality.I have only had the non-steel toe, non-insulated 73100...so that is what I have reviewed. I do wish they were American made and would pay extra for it...but the 73100 has just not been matched in any other boot so I am sticking with them even though made in China--they are that comfortable and durable a boot. I just don't see anyone going wrong with these at any price...but at $127 get them while you can! I have paid $230 for them before...and they are worth it at that price too. Thanks for reading my review...I hope it helps you in your search for the perfect work boot.

Great boot I like them better then boots that cost twice as much

This is my 2nd set of these and I hope I can keep buying them when these ware out. First pair lasted me nearly 10 years of mostly daily wear climbing communication towers. They wore out and I cased my tail looking for a new set. Had a set of thorogood that only lasted 6 months, bought a pair of redwings and even after being fitted by red wing never fit right and seems to ware the sole quickly so I sold them. Then bought these again along side a pair of $440 danner boots. Tried them Both on and by far these kept my foot more secure. The Danners felt like the belong in a coffee shop on the feet of a fake lumber jack pretending to know what manual labor is.

Super comfy boot

The boot not only fits well, but it looks pretty cool too,it has square toe instead of the more traditional narrow tow, and I have wide feet and it works well!

Lace to the toe Chippewa's

Stiffer on the uppers than the Carolina' which is good for better support. Comfortable from the start. Took a half hour getting used to the newness and wore them for the rest of the day and for three days after. I like these boots and Amazon got them here in three days. Another happy camper I am.

Great wearing boots!

I received these in bay apache and they are great.the fit is perfect and the workmanship is great no problem with them not being built in the states. Also comfortable right out of the box . Been wearing for 6hrs first day and haven't taken them off yet 2nd day . I'm a boot guy and I don't cut logs but I ride and these are great for that. Also planning on wearing to my job . We will see how that goes I don't have any reservations about it tho. I can tell you that I was so happy with these that I purchased a second pair in redwood. Love these Chipps

Good For Summer, Waterproof is questionable

I really liked these boots for about 9 months. I work as a diesel mechanic and in landscaping so I am not easy on my boots. However, the sole and outer of the boots stand up really well to the work, and are still in great shape. My only complaint about the boots is the waterproofness. After about 6 months the left booty started to separate from the bottom of the boot, but it remained attached and waterproof. After about 10 months the outer of the boots and the sole are still in good condition ( I also coat them with boot conditioner), but when walking through slush or snow (only for about an hour on and off) they leak. So, I am not sure if it is just a bad pair of boots (they were great for 6 months), or just lower quality boots. I have a pair of Justin Wellington's and I can walk in snow and slush all day and don't have a problem.
