i absolutely love these! they’re perfectly fitted for my feet and just tight enough where i’m not worried that they will fall off or shake loose while i’m dancing. their design is simple but elegant where it doesn’t take away from any outfits or costumes that might be paired with them, and the quality of them is definitely worth it. the buckles take a minute or two to clip on but thats inevitable given buckles designs. the shoes make great clear sounds! very well crafted! <3
I normally wear 5.5 women’s for snug fit and 6 for comfort/slightly loose fit for dress shoes. I followed Capezio’s guide - marking my feet on a piece of paper first and then matching my feet’s length with the shoe size in the size chart. The chart suggested 7. I was surprised but saw several buyers who commented that these shoes run small and they bought 1 to 1.5 size larger than their street shoe size. The shoes arrived quickly and they were huge. Even after I put on my thickest socks, there was still an 1/4-inch gap between my heel and the back of the shoe. So I returned and exchanged for one size smaller (size 6). The replacement came the very next day. I tried them on and the fit was perfect after I put on my socks.
I bought a size 9W based on Capezio's website recommendation to go up a 1/2 size. I normally wear a size 8.5M-W in street shoes, so 9W seemed the best option to try. Good choice. Not too narrow, not too wide, not too short, not too long. I will say that I wear Crocs about 99.9% of the time, so having a shoe that is more "fitting" is going to take a little getting used to. My toes are going to have to get acquainted with each other again, ha ha. The shoes seem well made (wouldn't expect any less from Capezio - bought their ballet and gymnastic shoes many years ago as a young child and they were awesome) and taps have a nice sound. Now if they could just dance for me like magic....LOLUPDATE: Exchanged these for a 9.5W and they are much better. The 9s were rubbing too much on my big toe. Tried on some other shoes at a shoe store to discover that maybe my foot grew from an 8.5 to a 9 at some point, LOL I am old and spent too many days in uncomfortable shoes back in the day to have hurting feet now. So maybe the going up a half size is correct and I was wrong in my assumption.
I had tried the Bloch brand size 7.5 (my jazz tap shoes are 7.5 M), but the shoes were just too tight across the toes, and they don't have Wide available through Amazon. The Capezio 7.5 Wides fit soooo much more comfortably. The only possible improvement would be the texture of the fabric that finishes the edges of the straps and around the heels. It is somewhat coarse, and chafed my feet. I had to coat the edges with fabric glue to smooth them out so they didn't bother my feet. With that done, the shoes feel great and I love the more feminine look for my tap and clogging classes and performances. Definitely recommend!
I forgot socks the first time I wore these to a 2-hour rehearsal, and they didn't rub a blister!
Fit and I can tap well with them
Very disappointed that they run so small. They aren’t a little too small, but a lot! Returning!
I am just starting to tap dance and these fit perfect and are very comfortable and well made! And true to size
