I had bought some cheaper but not really cheaper tap shoes from my studio when I started dance and I just wasn't loving them. They were too wide for my narrow foot and they didn't make good tap sounds. I found these which retailed for way more but bc I needed a narrow they were actually cheaper. They fit me so so so good and I haven't used them yet but seem way better quality. Definitely go up a full size and they'll fit perfect. Very pleased with these though.
My daughter loves these tap shoes. She’s been doing tap for about 2 or 3 years and these are around her 4th pair of tap shoes. I think they are her favorite so far. They look sophisticated, and that’s starting to be important in her 9 year old world. The sizing on these shoes is way off. They run EXTREMELY small and we had the return and reorder a couple times to get the right fit. I think we ended up at 2 sizes up but I think we could have gone up another 1/2 size as they are also pretty narrow. Otherwise, the quality is very good and they are worth the price.
After retiring, I'm finally able to take tap again after about 40 years away and loving it! I typically wear a 6.5 wide, and after reading reviews I got an 8, which, with lightweight cotton socks, fit perfectly. I did have to add a couple additional holes in the straps, but if you don't have a leather punch yourself, it's generally easy to sweettalk a cobbler (shoe repair person) into doing it for you.
Beautiful tap shoes great price great value.Highly Recommend.
It's hard to choose a star rating on this one because I love Bloch's tap shoe. My daughter had this shoe and we were impressed with the quality. Unfortunately my Bloch order from amazon didn't work out. Amazon shipped a 5 1/2 when I had ordered a 6 1/2. I looked at the size on the bottom and someone had taken a sharp instrument and tried to carve the 5 into a 6. When compared to my daughter's size 6 they were clearly a half size smaller. Also they were not as pictured. The picture (and my daughter's previous pair) had a strap without the holes and the buckle doesn't have a prong. You just weave the strap through and the buckle holds it in place. This makes it more flexible in getting the right fit and is easier to put on. It's why we but Bloch. However this shoe had the traditional strap. We returned the shoe and will be ordering directly from the manufacturer.
Update 5/25/2016:I wore the original pair several times (and they just got more comfortable with wear) but then my cat peed in one of them, so I had to order another pair! The second pair was just as nice as the first, and now I keep them in the box on a shelf! Freakin' cats...!!********************************************************************************************************************************************These shoes are fantastic! Nice and sturdy while still being very comfortable. I love the thin layer of (whatever?) between the tap and the shoe itself. It seems to offer a bit of extra shock absorption. The bit of rubber under the ball of the foot is very nice, too. I had a little squeak in my right one at first, but it went away after one class. I wear an 8 1/2 to 9 in most shoes, and my feet are a bit narrow. The 9N was perfect for me.A high quality shoe at a fair price. I am pleased!
I was interested in tap dancing again, and ordered the Bloch tap shoes, but they were extremely small. The shoe itself was fine, but I had to return them and I’m reordering a half size larger. If that doesn’t work, then a whole size larger. They were very short!
