I love these boots. I had many pairs of these in the Marines, and they are some of the best boots I ever had. They fit just right, they feel good, and they look cool. Too bad there discontinued
These boots are awesome! I use them working, hiking, hunting, and when I get the chance to ride quads. They fit a bit large, but if I put in an insert it'd probably be just right. The insert that it has in it when you get it wore down real fast for me and peeled up. I honestly heard of Bates when reading a book and wanted to look them up to find out how big time they were. I can say that I love these boots and only want to wear Bates from now on. You get every bit of what you pay for. I've had them out in hot work days, muddy rain days, and thick snow and ice. These boots will not upset you especially with the oil, grease, and water resistance that makes keeping them looking nice relatively easy. Don't settle for anything other product, go with Bates!
Sizing is way off. I have Bates Lites of the same size that fit perfectly yet these ordered swing about with every step. 0.5 smaller should be right. Still, it's the most sturdy pair of boots I've owned.
Our son is a Marine option in the NROTC who trains in desert climates. These boots are comfortable (with the right kind of boot socks) for those grueling 12 mile hikes with heavy gear. Not only does he use them for training, he also uses them for landscaping, hunting, working. They are well made and take alot of abuse. These are his third pair since he was a young teenager. He grew out of the first pair; The second pair held their own during an extended survival trip....until they got a little too close to the campfire.... But he wore them for several more months until he had to have a new pair. You won't regret these boots. They are high enough to keep you safe from snake bites as well.
I got what I paid for and they fit comfortably. Most importantly they are steel toe and rigid as expected. The double tread surprised me but I've got no complaints.
I wear this boot everyday as it is ST and my job requires that. The only thing I have added is an insert that I like for the sole, other than that has lasted well. I usually wait a while to review a product like this to see how the wear goes, but this one is great. The only thing that bugs me about it sometimes is it loves dirt and mud...lol...picks it up like a vacuum cleaner, but a little bang here and there or a dip in the stream and all clean...
Very happy with the boots so far, though I have not yet tried them in rough service. I was looking for a boot to provide support for a very weak ankle, non insulated for the warm weather and wide enough for my wide foot & extremely high arch. Though a little snug at first on the top of my foot (high arch) boot has become very comfortable. Steel toe is unnoticed.
The best all around boot, It has a steel toe for work if its needed, vents on the inside to shoot water out if fording, tough and rough, if not they also make good leg strengthening boots too. The steel toe adds a bit more weight and will work you out which is good.
