The Asolo Freney Mid GV Mountaineering Boot stands out in the mountaineering footwear market due to its combination of ruggedness and comfort. The core of its design is the Schoeller K-Tech upper, which not only adds to the boot's longevity but also provides flexibility and breathability—essential for those long treks in varying temperatures.
The Gore-Tex Performance Comfort lining works wonders in keeping moisture out while allowing sweat to escape, keeping your feet warm and dry regardless of snow or ice conditions. When it comes to traction, the Vibram Mulaz rubber sole grips surfaces effectively, making descents and climbs more manageable.
For climbers needing additional gear compatibility, the TPU crampon inserts are a noteworthy feature that ensures easy attachment without compromising the boot's integrity. The lace-up closure system allows for a personalized fit, accommodating different foot shapes and preferences.
However, it's essential to consider that these boots can feel a bit heavy compared to other models on the market. Additionally, as with many high-performance products, they may require a break-in period to reach peak comfort.

I've been using Asolo boots for over 20 years, and each pair last about 8 years with heavy use, whether I'm backpacking or out in the garden. These look so nice, I almost didn't want to get them dirty, but after a small trip to the mountains for a 9-mile muddy hike, it made them look like true mountain boots! My last boots, I had to put a small foot cushion in the bottoms to raise them up a fraction to prevent blisters, but I tried thin socks and thick socks on my test hike and never had any problems. The ankle fitting and a few inches above the ankle is very tight, which definitely prevents twists on uneven ground. Shoestrings have always outlasted the boots and these are the same quality of past boots.I walked right through numerous creeks with no water leakage to test the Gore-tex and had no leakage, and my feet were dry when I returned home.
I bought these for my son, he works with irrigation and normal work boots just don't hold up. These are waterproof and sturdy enough to protect his feet from the water, mud and rocks he deals with every day.
I've worn these on/off for a few weeks in an attempt to break them in working/hiking. They are a bit stiff and are tiring to wear after a few hours. I usually have better luck with hiking boots. These are ok, but I expected better for the price. They are a bit cold as well, but the waterproofing has been working well.
