It's SO hard to find a sneaker of any kind that isn't mostly EVA in the sole...which is NOT enough support for me. I generally wear 8.5 in sneakers, and take a 9 in a more dressy shoe or boot. These fit me perfectly with one caveat: I like to put an over-the-counter orthotic in my shoes. I find most insoles flimsy and have a moderate arch, but the soles of my feet tend to get cranky after wearing unsupportive shoes for more than a couple of hours...I'm prone to plantar fasciitis. These Prowalkers have a big sole and are pretty lightweight for their size, but they still feel supportive and substantial enough to take my tall person weight all day at the clinic for 10+ hours. I find it really easy to walk briskly through the clinic in them and feel they even help my postural mechanics a bit. I was contemplating knocking a star off for the insert, but it's still well made (as far as inserts) and I think it may be designed that way on purpose knowing that the bulk of their customer base may be putting in an orthotic of their own. I like them so much, I went back and purchased three more pairs in different colors. No regrets.
I had a pair like these and could not find another. These are PERFECT and exactly what I wanted! Great quality n fit n comfortable. They aren't pretty but wonderful.
I typically love Rockport and Frye brands in high heeled boots (3+ inch) and wear a 6.5 in both. These are so comfortable that I can actually run in them if needed, and I can walk over 8 hours with ease. In these brands, I also wear 6.5 in other high heeled shoes. I have high arches. In open back shoes, generally flats and slides in brands like Clarks, Easy Spirit and Under Armour flip flops I wear a size 6, and 6.5 in closed shoes. In Merrell hiking and trail style boots & shoes, I wear a size 6.5. For athletic shoes I generally wear a 6.5 (New Balance, Asics) and Propet I can wear a 6 or 6.5 typically, depending on flex of soles. This is the first time getting a walking shoe in Rockport. I went with my typical size in New Balance (6.5) although Amazon recommended a size 6. This Premium Prowalker shoe does look rather big in person. --Just to give a heads up, but this is mainly due to the outer sole. The fit is rather good, but the back heel is a bit wide for my narrow heels. I could have gotten a 6, especially if I planned on wearing thin socks/liners (like Goldtoe). I chose to keep these for wearing with thicker sport socks. This eliminates the back heel issue.Generally, I am not a fan of walking sneakers. They tend to be way too thick inside, have very hard soles compared to running and training shoes, and they tend to be bulky and heavy. These Rockports are super lightweight, in my opinion (almost twice the weight of Propet travel walkers, which are extremely light and about half the weight of my last pair of New Balance walking sneakers). The outer soles are thick in appearance, but inside is not overstuffed. My high arches can handle the inner sole/footbed, but these aren't as supportive as let's say Rockport high heeled boots and shoes. The toe box gives plenty of wiggle room. Overall, I am liking the Prowalker. I will most likely wear these more in cooler months, since I prefer sandals in the summers. The traction is very good on these, and they should do well walking along dirt roads and wet sidewalks.
I got the shoe for my plantar fasciitis. This is my third shoe I have bought on Amozon.I’ve sent all the others back that I’ve ordered from Amazon because they were too big or they hurt my toes, or felt like I was walking in a cardboard box. These shoes fit just right. They’re very comfortable. I did get a nine 1/2. I normally wear a 10 because of the other reviews. They are big and clunky looking, but for the comfort of my feet I do not care.
I’m starting to love them. Sizing was off. I got a 6 and it wasn’t long enough for my orthotics. I got a 6w and it was too wide at the heal. I got a 51/2w and it fit the best. Note this is a winter shoe. Too hot for summer in my opinion. If you have high arches it will be tight to break-in. The leather when cold is unforgiving. I used a hairdryer to warm the material and wore around the house to break in. I couldn’t wear these out of the box. I bought these as a neutral shoe for travel. The sole isn’t as soft as I had hoped compared to HOKA but still gives enough support. Should be fine for walking.
The sole is like a platform shoe, at least 2 inches thick. Turn your foot and kiss your ankle goodbye in the ridiculous shoes. A shame, too, because the grey is a nice color but no way.
Very comfortable, quality work shoe that is made of genuine leather.
So far, these are my favorite work shoes. I am on my feet and walking all day at work. I have tried saucony, skechers and reeboks. These shoes have worked best and my feet aren't in pain at the end of the day. They are bulky looking but for me, comfort outweighs a sleek design since I am in them all day.
