TLDR: Super comfortable and stylish. Grey color in person does not match photos. Tread is poor and wears quickly. Get em on sale and they're worth it!I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Reef. I've owned and tried about 4 pairs of their sandals. Three of those pairs I found to be over priced or too narrow for my feet, however one pair ended up as my go daily go-to for just over 2 years. I caught these shoes on sale for $32 and really liked the style and figured at the sale price they would be worth giving a try. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase!First the good:These are mad comfortable. As a kid/teenager I wore a lot of Van's and Converse sneakers but as I've gotten older I've found that they (especially Converse) are too thin for longer wear sessions. These don't have that problem, they're roomy, padded and I can wear them all day without fear of sore feet or blisters. The annoying:The real grey color does not match the grey in the listing. In the listing they have a yellowish tint, almost a cream or light tan color. They are a solid light grey in person hopefully this is illustrated in my pictures.Another issue, as others have mentioned, is the tread. Reef insists on using this shallow wave tread on their shoes and sandals and I hate it. It's shallow and provides very little grip on anything that isn't dry pavement. When wearing these, you constantly need to be mindful of smooth surfaces or puddles. You basically hydroplane as soon as the floor becomes moist. The grip improves slightly as the shoes wear in but the tread also seems to wear very quick and doesn't inspire much confidence in its longevity. You can see the tread condition after about 8-10 hours of wear weekly for 2 months in my pictures.Overall, I'm happy with the comfort and looks of these shoes despite the color discrepancy and poor tread. Though, I'm not sure that I would spend more than $40 on them. If you're looking at these and they're not on sale, I'd wait.
Perfect size and comfortable
The reviews hold true. They fit, feel, and look great buuuut they sure don’t last long. The tread on the bottom of the sole starts to deteriorate quickly even with moderate/light use
I like how they look and they’re comfortable. The bottom wears off quickly. Good shoe for a couple vacations, but not something I’d wear all the time
I bought my boyfriend these for Christmas and now he has all the colors. He says these shoes were “made for him”
Excellent product. Very comfortable.
I love Reef sandals and the old Rover Lows. These Deckhands are similar to style, but are not as comfortable as the Rovers. I like to have my laces pre-tied, and just slip my feet into them. I cannot do that here because the heel is just soft canvas and folds in with any pressure. The Rovers had stiffer heels and I was able to slip in easier. The Deckhands' insoles are stiffer than I expected, the arch support is almost non-existent, weak heel support, and the treads seems like it'll wear out fast. At least, I can replace the insoles with one that has arch support and comfy. I wish they would make a waterproof version, like they did with the Rover. It's a good casual shoe, and probably a good walking one if the insoles are replaced.
Fit good ……comfortable….got them for a good price
