I have some serious problems with osteoarthritis and my feet have had significant changes in recent years. I have a fallen arch and a large bone growth on top of one foot while the other is fairly normal. I have spent a lot of money on expensive, doctor recommended orthotic shoes without finding one that was comfortable for me to wear all day. When I saw these Propet shoes at such an amazing price, I thought of the comfortable Propet shoes I had at one time (before all the arthritis issues) and decided to give them a try.First off, these are not the most attractive shoes I have ever owned, but I am past the age when style is of utmost importance. The "knit" uppers (I have described them to a friend as looking as if they were "crocheted") have the advantage of excellent stretch-ability. Therefore, the shoes accommodate the extraneous bone growth on one foot while still having a snug fit on the other. I ordered the EE width as recommended by another reviewer with orthotic inserts. I was very pleased to find that my inserts fit perfectly on top of the inserts that came with the shoes. The result is the best arch support of any shoe/insert combination I have tried. FINALLY, I have a toe box wide and flexible enough that I am not developing blisters on the top of the "knuckles" of my hammer toes, and there is enough stretch in the fabric that I'm also not getting blisters on the tips of those same hammer toes when they curl under as I walk. The only issue I have with this shoe is that the heel of the shoe slides a little. If need be, I will add heel inserts after completely breaking in these shoes to correct this. These shoes are comfortable enough that, after wearing them for 3 days, I ordered another pair in a different color today. Looks like all my slightly used Keens and New Balance shoes are going on E Bay. While every shoe style is different, I will definitely be looking at other Propet shoes when I am ready to buy again.
After a few weeks they widened and the toe area is now roomy.I have foot problems.....been to a podiatrist...didn’t help me at all.....I was still hurting and limping around. I decided to purchase this shoe to wear inside my home since I can’t go barefoot anymore due to foot pain. I was going to purchase Propet slippers but they were sold out. So I settled for this shoe. I’m glad I purchased this shoe. The toe area is a little smaller than most Propet shoes, so they felt a little tight. I solved this by wearing thinner socks. Now they feel fine and my foot pain has been greatly reduced. Could I have gotten a wider shoe?......maybe, but I think my heel would slip when I walk if I had gone wider. I realized I needed a sturdier shoe with better support. I’m hoping this shoe will resolve the problem my podiatrist couldn’t. They are easy to slip on.
I was looking for indoor shoes to keep in my car and wear at the gym. I bought 4 pairs of shoes and sent them ALL back and then stumbled on these gems! They fit well, seem well-made (so far) and are comfortable even for a short warmup run in the treadmill. #thumbsup
I was hoping these would be comfortable all day every day shoes, but they are not for me. They are a little tight across the midfoot and in the toe area and the fabric is not real forgiving, so if my feet swell at all they become too tight. If I sized up, I feel like they would be loose in the heel. They are supportive but I don't feel like they provide as much cushion and shock absorption as the Brooks and Dansko that I usually wear. They are actually more attractive than most of my ugly supportive shoes, so I will keep them around for occasional light wear. I think they are worth it for the price and will probably work for some. I have foot and hip issues, and they just don't quite do it for me.
Went for the first walk with my new Propets, it was wonderful. I have extremely high arches and insteaps , so I was concerned I would not have enough support. These shoes snuggled my feet and no sharp pain in the balls of my feet. I recommend a half size larger to fit the length of your foot and good news, the rest of the shoe fits to size. Highly recommended! Forgot to mention, one of my feet is 1/2 size bigger than the other and all I need to do is wear a heavier sock on that foot for the shoes to fit both feet perfectly.
If you look close at large picture of shoes, the laces do not go to the top cugg of shoes. You have to squeeze your foot through the top of the shoe with a semi elastic band. I had crew socks on and found it impossible to get my in.
I have purchased this exact shoe in the past in size 8.5 and they have been AWESOME. I think the manufacturing has changed. I noticed some areas of the shoe that looked like they should have been "factory seconds". These fit terribly - very narrow and tight, even though they were the same style and size I currently wear. If you take a chance - consider going a FULL SIZE UP. I returned them.
I was looking for a house shoe that slipped on but had support and cushioning, and tried several others. This one was the best--wide enough but with laces that tighten so it doesn't slip around, stretchy material so there's no pressure on sore points, and with enough cushioning and support. I currently have plantar fasciitis insoles in instead of the regular ones the shoes came with, but I hope to eventually be able to switch back. I wouldn't try to walk far or fast in them, but they're great for all-day in-house wear, and fine if I forget to change them before doing a quick errand.
