I love on clouds. I can't but another brand now
Feet screwed up by 20 years running in combat boots, and two rounds of surgery. I have tried many shoes of all price ranges, trying to eliminate pain and maintain a good level of activity. Generally most expensive shoes maximize style and market a level of comfort, that isn’t there. “Good” Sketchers tend to be more comfortable than anything “high end”.On Cloud 5s are different, more comfortable (once broken in for 10 miles or so) than anything else I have worn. This model, the On Cloud 5 COAST, is the best of the lot. The only shoes I’ve worn where I have caught myself walking and hiking, thinking “my feet actually feel good”.The COAST version of the On Cloud 5 is different than any other shoe I have seen, in ways I really appreciate, as a Traveller. First, they take up 40% to 50% less room in the suitcase, than any other athletic shoe I have seen since they fold completely flat. This is a result of a combination of excellent materials and engineering that lets the heel fold flat against the insole. Also, with the heel folded, you can just kick the shoe on or off like a slipper.Because of my lousy feet, I need something like a slipper to kick into when I get sent out at a hotel or on cruise boat for the morning coffee. The On Cloud Coast’s are excellent for this. This means I don’t have to waste a third of the space in my carry-on with shoes, since the flat-folding Coasts cut the space for one pair in half and eliminate the slippers.Last, on the subject of the heels, which are different, I was little concerned about the shoes staying on properly for athletic shoes, but they do very well. You do have to pull the heel up as you put them on, as one used to for the old style Ked’s gym shoes, but it is not a problem.Just Great.
