Just right for jazz
Based on other reviews, I ordered this shoe larger than my daughter's street shoe size. She comfortably wears a size 9 in street shoes but is almost ready for size 10, so is probably close to a 9.5 if I could ever find street shoes in that size. I ordered a 10.5 for these jazz shoes. They are very snug to get onto her foot, but once on, there is just a smidgeon of room at the end of her toes. She told me she likes the way the shoe hugs the arch of her foot, and that it feels good and secure. My daughter has always worn socks or dance tights with her other shoes because she hates the way the shoes feel "tight" against her skin, however, with these shoes she had no complaints and will wear them barefoot and finds they fit well.
The toddler/little kid version of this shoe definitely fits true to street size (or at least girls street sizing). My daughter wears a 12 and I ordered the 13 and 1 thinking they might run small (based on some reviews) - the 1 was WAY too big and the 13 is still a little loose. I may keep the 13 so she has room to grow, but she definitely could have fit a 12 and been completely comfortable. However, the adult version of these shoes do run small! My older daughter wears a 2 and she ended up keeping the womens size 5. She'll have a little room to grow, but not too much. Very frustrating to me that the same style shoe runs differently depending on which sizing you're ordering. The shoes are made of a very soft leather and I like the stretchy material that goes around the sides and under the foot, seems like the shoe will be very flexible and comfortable to wear. Both the little girls and womens version were identical in style and feel.
I bought these for my 6 year old who is just in a kids 12 street shoe, and will soon move to 13s. We bought these in size 13 and they are unusably large. She would need an 11 in these.
7 y.o. (36 inches tall and slim) daughter normally wears size 13K in street shoes, purchased the size 13.5 thinking there's room to grow but they were still too tight. Size chart may be off. Returned to order size 1.5 instead, will report back. EDIT: Size 1.5 fits nicely for my usual shoe-sized 13K daughter.
Ordering these shoes on Amazon saved me 50% on the cost of purchasing a similar pair locally. Big win, but ordering dance shoes online can be tricky when you're not sure how a brand is sized. I faithfully read all the other reviews and decided to go with the same size as my child is currently wearing (a toddler size 13) in her street shoes. They showed up swiftly and fit great - they are nice and snug but not tight. They look to be of decent quality and they have stayed put nicely so far during acro moves. Very pleased for the price.
I had to ask my wife what this purchase was because I had no idea what these were for. Apparently these are dance shoes purchased for my niece. Well the verdict is in she loves the damn things. In fact she never wants to take them off from what I'm told. So if you are looking for dancing shoes these are probably a good choice.
Daughter loves these shoes because this kind does not have a tab jutting out into the leg-hole on the top. She says that the tab cuts into the top of her feet no matter how soft the material is. So, she was very happy with these shoes. We got her a 1.5 originally and she has outgrown them now. I am not finding a size 2 in this type for some reason. And that's a bummer because no other kind will do for my daughter.
