Right out of the box did a two day pack packing trip with a full 55l backpack. I was a little worried I didn’t break them in first but I needed more padding on the sole than the Merrell aero’s offer bc the heavy pack.I didn’t get any blisters. The toe box was awesome for the extremely steep uphill and downhill sections. No black toe!Merrell almost always works for my foot shape but everybody’s foot is different. The shoe is durable and it cost 1/2 what it did at the store. I have prime so if it didn’t work out I could have just sent it back.I have two other “popular” brands of hiking shoes that I bought at the store. Both cost more than $150. And one is too narrow and the other the ankle is too high and bootie didn’t tighten enough so I ended up with a black toe from my nail hitting the toe box on the downhill sections. So not every shoe is going to be right for every foot.I was worried about buying Moab because I’ve always used the all out styles but sadly they discontinued my favorite shoe. This Moab isn’t quite as comfortable because the bootie is a harder heavier shell but it is durable and the outer shell will hold up good against the overgrown foliage (uluhe) in Hawaii.
this was a nice shoe but i felt it ran large and even if i would of sized down it just seemed wide, but if your foot is more on the wide side then this shoe would work for you.. the color as shown in picture was different when arrived a comon online shopping problem.. i saw where some thought that the shoe was a fake i didn't feel that they looked genuine and felt like a good quailty shoe. this particular style of merrells did not work for me but i have enjoyed other merrells and liked them. The 5 star rating is based on what i observed about the shoe having not worn it. So as far as how it holds up and function on the trail i have no idea, retruned .
Got these for work and they were comfy on the first wear and are definitely true to size. Very comfortable
Update two years later: I am a little disappointed, my first pair of Merrells lasted 3-4 years of daily wear, including hiking and everything a person could put a shoe through, and didn’t fall apart. I had to retire them because I couldn't get the feet smell out (daily wear!) These ones have already developed a large hole through the front black rubber toe protector on the left shoe after barely over two years of non-daily use. Merrell just doesn't seem to be producing the same quality shoes they used to! These have to be my favorite shoes on the planet. I've worn a lot of different makes and manufacturers, but Merrell makes the most comfortable hiking shoes so far. Between the contoured insole that actually fits my feet to keep them in place and the grippy outsoles that hold onto everything, they are the best for both hiking and for everyday use. They also last a long time, making it worth the somewhat high price tag. My very first pair I wore every day for three years straight until the "foot smell" got too bad and I couldn't get rid of it (thin socks and foot sweat are not a great combo, y'all; opt for thicker socks and you'll be golden). I've got about six different pairs now, some that I've had for 4 or 5 years, and so far I've only had to retire one other pair due to the fact that I smashed the backs down by shoving my feet into them instead of untying them like a normal person. Merrell shoes are so worth the money, you won't be disappointed.
Five stars is not enough for these shoes! I took them straight out of the box, slipped them on my feet and jumped on a plane to Japan. I spent 14 days walking through Tokyo and nearby cities and my feet never hurt! Not once! Sure, they were tired from being on my feet probably 5 times longer than usual, but I was able to recover overnight and get back at it the next day. The waterproofing is superb, we got rained on a couple of days but my socks never got wet. I can not recommend these shoes enough! 10/10 will absolutely be sticking with this brand for my walking shoes and looking into them when it comes time to replace my hiking boots.
I'm a BIG Merrell fan and these don't disappoint.Super comfortable and good color.
I received mine today, arrived on time. I normally wear a 9 in Merrell. But ordered the 9.5 due to availability. Glad I did get the 9.5, don't think my foot would have fit the 9! These appear to be pictured above with insoles that say Merrell. But the ones I received had no insoles. I now have to buy or remove insoles from my other shoes to put in these. Not too big of a deal, but very off putting to not receive the shoes as a whole product. Merrell's aren't cheap, but thankfully I chose ones not so pricey compared to others. They seam to be decent. But the plastic or vinyl type lining around the top of the shoes seems cheap. Don't anticipate these will last long, especially if you trek off trail or in brush, might rip. 6/22/23 - After wearing for a bit now - Seriously, glad I got the 9.5 instead of the 9. After having to buy insoles for the shoes it gave me just enough room. To me, the bottoms of the shoe are loud when walking, like the plastic/rubber is on the harder side. I have misophonia, so some sounds are more noticeable. I prefer not to hear my feet smacking the pavement each step, yes I know they are hiking shoes. I'm just being overly picky. But when I wear these its all I'm thinking about, smack smack smack of the pavement.... (trail I go to is part paved then dirt. They are just okay on the comfort aspect.
I discovered merrells in someone else foot in the orthopedic waiting room. I went to the site and was skeptical. Amazon has colors that are not on the actual site and these all black ones are one of the pairs. I love these and i check at lease once a month for updated amazon inventory. These are great!! I have arthritis in both feeth and extreme back pain. I need orthotics but not with merrells. They have waterproof in a different design so be sure to read the description if that is what you are looking for
