When it comes to hiking shoes for kids, the KEEN Wanduro Low Height Waterproof Sneakers stand out for several reasons. First and foremost, the waterproof feature is essential for unpredictable weather conditions often encountered on trails. Whether it's rain or splashes from puddles, these sneakers keep little feet dry, allowing kids to focus solely on their adventure.
The traction provided by the KEEN.Fusion rubber sole is another highlight. It grips well on various surfaces, from rocky paths to muddy trails, ensuring your child can traverse with confidence. The lightweight design also contributes to less fatigue during longer hikes, which parents will find reassuring.
Comfort is key in any footwear, especially for active children. The ultra-durable cushioning does not compress over time, providing consistent support throughout the day. Additionally, the lace lock bungee capture system simplifies getting the shoes on and off, which is particularly beneficial for younger kids who may struggle with traditional laces.
However, it's worth noting that the shoes may run slightly small, so considering a half-size up might be advisable when purchasing. Furthermore, while the sneaker's aesthetic is appealing, options are somewhat limited compared to other brands that cater to adults.

Keen has always been a reliable brand for our children. This pair is of no exception. Comfortable hiking shoes that can take miles of rugged use. The elastic bungee lace lock makes my child happy to put it on and off. The shoes has great traction on any terrain, even wet ones. We make sure she wears it especially when it’s raining as to protect her feet from getting soaked.
We love Keens for my 6 year old, these are great! The value was comparable to buying local, but with more color choices!
Returned, love the brand, purchase keens for myself all the time but these running in the midsized orders for both my kids and ended up returning both pairs
If you've looked into any kind of hiking shoes, you've heard of the Keen brand before. Heck, you've probably got a pair of 'em yourself. I do. When we were looking for some new outdoor shoes for our 9 year old, we didn't hesitate to pick these up. If you have kids you know how fast they chew through shoes. They sometimes don't even get a chance to outgrow them before they get destroyed! Our young one has alternated between outgrowing them and destroying them. We alternate between getting cheap shoes and more expensive, better quality ones. No doubt about it, these are the latter. Pushing almost $70 for this pair of size 4 shoes in Steel Grey, they aren't cheap. The Keen quality is there, these are comfortable, well-made, durable hiking shoes that will take a beating outside and last long enough to still be useful when our young one outgrows them whenever that may be. We also like the pull-tab lacing system. No stringy laces to get dirty or torn off when romping around outside. They're water-proof and quite stylish. Stylish enough to worn everywhere, even to school, and I have no doubt they'll last for an entire school year. We couldn't say the same for a pair of Sk-----rs from the Bullseye store that lasted maybe 6 months before we had to toss 'em. I highly recommend these shoes for your kid(s) if you can find 'em on sale or have the $ to spend.
I'm very impressed with the durability, style, comfort, and overall function of Keen shoes. These shoes are very well made and use a welded rubber design to help ensure waterproofing. They are very durable and I like that the sole extends beyond the toe, this should keep the toe from separating from the top of the shoe. I did notice that the product page advertises bungee laces but the product I received has velcro straps. I'm not complaining, but I noticed the discrepancy. My daughter says that the shoe is very comfortable and makes her run faster..... The Keen brand is super durable, my last pair was still perfect after several months when my daughter decided to practice her new scissor skills on the velcro strap. A friend of mine has five kids and will only buy then Keen brand shoes.WHAT I LIKE-Very durable construction-Waterproofing with welded rubber and glue. They advertise that the fabric and membrane are waterproof-Looks great-Velcro strap for little kids sizes, looks like the bungee laces for bigger kids.-Very good grips on the soleWHAT I DON'T LIKE-A little heavy, but then again, it's a hiking boot.
KEEN makes great hiking boots. When I saw this pair of sneakers, even though they were offered in Big Kid sizes, I thought I'd give them a try. You can look up Big Kid to Woman shoe size conversions online. I am normally a Woman's 7 1/2. Since the sneakers do no come in half sizes, I decided to size up to accommodate thicker hiking socks. I probably should have sized down instead. I think these sneakers run a bit large, even for a size 8 equivalent. I probably could have gotten away with a Big Kid size 5. These sneakers are great. So easy to slip on and off, yet you can use the lace lock to tighten as needed. They are lightweight and have some traction. They lack ankle support (and are slightly too big for me) so I will not be using them for extended hiking trips, just more so for running errands around the city and for light trails.
EDITThese didn't work out. After 3 tries including with new insoles, my daughter can not wear these. The length is way too long and the sides too narrow. Her size 7 big kids Keens original style sandal fits beautifully and she has several colors. These had to be given away. Just not a good fit. I changed the rating to 2 stars due to the nig discrepancy.‐-----------ORIGINAL REVIEWMy daughter has worn several pair of Keen shoes in the size Big Kid 7 with no issues. I got these for her.HOW THESE COMEThese came well protected in the usual KEEN box. The shoes are stuffed with shape holding stuffing.HOW THESE RUNThese seem to run a bit narrower on the sole than the other Keens in this size range that I have gotten her. In the photo I posted, I have another pair of the same size next to these to show how much wider they are compared to the Keens.Other than being a big narrower, she is trying to wear them and hopefully they won't give her issues.TIESThe instant on and off is a nice feature and she likes it.COMFORTThese are a bit more snug width wise than she expected (due to the way the other Keens in this size fit her) but so far she can still wear them for now.THE BOTTOM LINEThese are nice shoes. The size is good, but they run a little narrower than expected compared to other shoes in this company's size of a different model.MY RATINGFOUR STARS. These should be just a little wider than they are. Otherwise they are nice shoes and my daughter is still wearing them despite being more snug than she likes. She loves the color combo.
