Couldn’t beat the price. True to size. Very comfortable.
I have a wide foot. The Keen is better for me than a Merrell wide. Also, for medium duty hiking, over rough terrain, these are more substantial and better equipped than similarly priced Merrells. I find these Keens very comfortable and more protective of my feet as I hike over raw lava stretches here in Hawaii. Prior to this I was hiking decomposed granite rubble bases of mountains in Joshua Tree National Park and this Keen shoe did great there as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I have other Keen shoes of a different style. I ordered the same size and was pleased that the fit was just what I needed. Thanks Keen for a high quality comfortable shoe.
I got these as a returned "warehouse" item for a substantial discount. I was replacing a pair of Keens that were over a decade old and it was time for an update. I gotta say that these are fantastic shoes. The vented sides mean that the shoes breathe easier than with the waterproof Keens, so your feet don't get so darned hot as they do in regular shoes. The price you pay is that they are not waterproof. But that's cool with me, they are perfect for summer hikes, trips to the store, and dozens of other activities that do not require fording streams or stomping through puddles. I love the look and the feel. The only negative I can find is that the toebox is just a bit tight, but not so much that it interferes with hiking. Overall, I love this shoe!
In Short:Good shoes, good laces, and are a great pick for work.In Long:Good quality shoes, laces hold up well, color is nice and the arch is not too high. They only last me about two years, but I really tare up my cloths so anything that last a year for me will likely last serval for other people. They grip the ground and make travel in the mountains easy, and they also do not hurt your feet when you walk around town.I have really wide feet, and I struggle to find shoes that fit me (will have to get custom boots this winter my dang hobbit feet won't stop getting broader). It is often a question of which shoes hurts the least, rather than which shoe is the most comfortable. Then about four years ago my mother found these and got me a pair. And for the first time since I was thirteen, they were bearable! And once I broke them in they were even slightly comfortable! I can only imagine how comfortable these would be for someone who has normal feet, because for me these are the best shoes I have worn for a very long time.
Updated yet again. I've worn the replacement pair that Keen sent me for about two months and the sole of one of them is already coming off. The glue on this pair is better, this time the grey rubber layer is tearing instead.I'm done with Keen. Don't waste your money. Don't waste the blisters of breaking in a new pair that'll almost immediately fall apart on you.--Updated again. I liked these shoes enough initially to buy a couple more pairs of the same thing before they were discontinued, like every comfortable shoe always is when I need a replacement. Started wearing the next pair and both soles were peeling off in multiple places in just a few miles of walking on pavement. The glue holding the black layer to the grey layer had no strength at all, I could peel the whole thing apart with just finger pressure.I complained to KEEN and they sent me a free replacement pair, which was stand up service by them.So final word is that QC is spotty but service is excellent and if you get a good pair then these are excellent hiking shoes.--Updated: I got about 6 months out of these shoes, which is average for me. The uppers held up like new. The soles peeled off while there was still a bit of tread left but they were already getting too thin to wear much longer. The glue holding the soles on also started to lift up around the edges but shoe goo fixed it. Keeping the 4 star rating.--These are real hiking shoes with good support, a stiff sole, and plenty of padding. They feel solid and durable. Breathability is not very good, the vented area isn't very big and the tongue is gusseted with very little slack so you can't open the shoes up to dry faster. The curved edges of the sole around the arch of your foot, on both sides of the Keen logo, are perfectly shaped to squeeze great roostertails of mud up and outwards onto your other leg, or anyone walking near you.The laces are at least a foot longer than they have any reason to be, and the loop the top of the heel is inexplicably and idiotically not actually at the top of the heel so it crumples on the way on every time.I wear a 12D and these fit as expected.
Arrived quicker than originally predicted. Perfect fit. Great shoes.
The only shoes I will wear. I have had several pairs of Keens and they outlast all other brands. Extremely comfortable, short break in time, and while they may not look the best, they are the best. Happy feet, happy life.
