The Columbia Youth Unisex Redmond Waterproof hiking shoes stand out in the youth hiking category thanks to their meticulous construction and thoughtful features. The combination of the suede leather upper and webbing structure not only provides a snug fit but also offers breathability, which is essential for active kids. The waterproof seam-sealed membrane bootie construction means parents can rest assured that their child's feet will remain dry during unexpected rain showers or splashy puddle jumps.
With the innovative TECHLITE lightweight midsole, these shoes promise long-lasting comfort while delivering superior cushioning. This feature is especially beneficial for long hikes where fatigue could quickly set in. The Omni-GRIP™ outsole does its job brilliantly by providing excellent traction across multiple surfaces, ensuring stability whether your child is navigating rocky paths or muddy trails.
One of the noticeable advantages of the Redmond shoes is their reinforced toe construction. Kids often tend to kick rocks or stumble, and having that extra protection adds peace of mind for parents concerned about wear and tear.
Despite its strengths, potential buyers should be aware that these shoes may need a short break-in period to reach optimal comfort, particularly if your child is used to softer footwear. Additionally, while they excel in many areas, some users have noted limited ventilation compared to other lighter, more open designs, which might lead to warmer feet on particularly hot days.

This looks like a very nice hiking shoe, although my daughter has not used it yet. I wanted to point out that it runs very large. I originally ordered a size 7 for my daughter who is a 6 1/2. It was extremely large on her and fit me, and I usually wear an 8 1/2. I reordered in a size 6 which fits her.
Stronger for children’s
This is our third time buying this shoe - we just keep buying the next size up. Daughter says they’re super comfortable. I also love that it’s somewhat waterproof so she can wear them on rainy days and I don’t need to buy separate rain boots (just for regular wear in the rain, not for playing in puddles).
Too tight/stiff but my toddler loves them. Keeps her feet warm and dry
True too size. Keep the feet dry from hiking/ walking after the snow and rain.
Pretty good and durable. Size was little bigger but great fit
Took our family to the wilderness of alaska and it rained a lot. These kept my child’s feet dry and were comfortable - no complaining after wearing them and hiking all day
Worn hiking all over Ireland and Scotland, protected the feet and kept them dry. Highly recommend.
