I bought this before a trip to the mountains; I had planned to do more walking and hiking than anythind but only had city-type athletic shoes. These were several years old, banged up and broken in. I thought these would be too big when I first opened the box, they were a lot larger than my existing shoe, but most of that is the sole that is a lot larger than the actual shoe; this gives this shoe a very stable platform, which is great for hiking, especially for someone trip and roll prone like me. I wore them for the first time during the trip and was prepared with clear surgical tape for a break in blister or two. I thought that I had felt one started but the shoe acclimated very quickly. The tread on these is extremely aggressive, which I love. There's not a lot that actually touches the ground when walking but they nearly have the grip of cleats; like mud tires for my feet. Very happy with purchase.
I got two pairs of these Columbia shoes in two different sizes for me and my daughter.They are very good looking for hiking type of shoes but both of us had the same issue with one of the shoe, one shoe was rubbing off against the ankle making it hurt and uncomfortable.I had to return both pairs.
