I have been searching for this shoe for ages! I've always had problem feet, and until recently (last year) I encountered some serious back problems (twisted spinal cord, major ouch!) I bought so many different types of shoes that wouldn't kill my back or feet; flats, flats with padding, special shock absorption, and the "comfort plus" from predictions, a Payless brand. I spent 35 dollars on the comfort plus's which promises comfort...but they were just terrible. I could only wear them once or twice a week, they just hurt my feet. They were so uncomfortable. They were made of this hard faux-leather material that just rubbed against all areas of your feet. It sucked because I work at a college and we need to dress nicely, so I can't always wear my sneakers. I finally found these crocs, and though I've only been wearing them for a day I can tell that this will be a long-term relationship. They're decently priced, light and cushy, super super cute, you could wear them with jeans, skirts, and dresses. Another issue I've always had with my feet too is that my right foot is slightly larger than my left. Where my left is more comfortable in an 8 and my right in an 8 1/2, I've ALWAYS had an impossible time finding the right shoe. Usually the only shoes that worked were the sneakers. I was afraid of ordering these because people said they run slightly larger or smaller. Well, I'm usually an 8 1/2 and these shoes fit really well. I ordered the size 8, which are probably closer to an 8 1/2 in other brands. The tag on the shoes said 8w, so maybe they're wide and that's why they're fitting well (but my feet aren't wide, they're skin and bone), but the point is is that they are beautiful and they are working. I also ordered crocs' suede flats and riders boots, and those are just gorgeous too! And they both fit well, and there's room to wear socks...again maybe cause they're 8w. Well, I love my crocs, they've just earned a loyal customer :)
After a fairly disastrous trip to Paris with not-great shoes, I needed to find a pair of shoes to wear when I sightsee. The shoes needed to be cute, need to be actual shoes (not sandals), able to be dressed up or down, and wearable for many many miles over uneven surfaces/concrete. After reading reviews online, I bought a pair of these to try. I tested these during a very hot 9-hour day of sightseeing. I walked more than 8 miles in these shoes without any pain or blisters. Because they are stretchy, plasticy stuff, they did not hurt or bind when my feet started to swell. I have high arches, and the shoes don't have great arch support, but still-no problem. I wore them without socks or tights, and the shoes did rub a little tiny bit on the inside of my arch. They also made my feet SO sweaty--but again, no socks or tights. Overall, these are great and I would recommend them.UPDATE: These are some of the best travel shoes I've ever owned and I love them even more now than when I originally reviewed them. They are so versatile and comfortable--if you don't mind the foot sweat, you can wear these all day--dressed up or down. I just got back from a trip to Brazil and I was SO happy to have these little plastic shoes. I got soaked when I went to Iguassu Falls. But they were great and they dried really quickly. They are also fantastic for walking over uneven surfaces, like cobblestone or brick streets. You can even wear them to climb over rocks and boulders, if you are so inclined. So fantastic. I am probably going to buy them in more colors.
This is my second pair of Crocs flats. I normally wear a 9.5, but as with the previous style I purchased, I sized down to the nearest whole size, 9. Once again that proved to be perfect length. I was a little worried about these at first, because they were narrower than my other Crocs, and initially the band on top felt really tight. I don't have an especially wide foot (it's on the wide end of normal, I never buy wide width shoes though). However, my foot is kind of 'tall', if that makes sense, so that was making the strap dig in pretty hard. Also, on my right foot, the little round peg holding the strap in place was rubbing my arch pretty badly. After about 5 full days of wearing these, though, they molded perfectly to my foot and stretched out a bit, and now they are super comfy. Just took a bit more breaking in that my other Crocs flats. I'm glad I kept them. My only complaint is that, as others have noted, these make your feet pretty sweaty. I find I get a pretty strong urge to take them off and let my feet dry a couple of times per day. Fortunately, they dry extremely quickly, and I don't live in a hot climate, so it's manageable. I do wish they had a few discrete air holes for ventilation. Overall, very happy with these. They are really cute, don't look like Crocs, and meet a very real need I have for the rainy climate I live in: simple black flats that can get wet and won't have me sliding around on the rainy streets.
I purchased these to replace my Olivia Slingbacks that seem to be no longer available. The Olivia's were so comfortable and almost felt like I was walking with nothing on my feet. My feet never hurt while wearing them. The new Alice Mary Jane flat is very cute and felt o.k. to begin with, but after a very short amount of time my feet begin to ache! There is an arch that is under the toes that doesn't line up with where my toes arch. Seemed like a cool idea, but not comfy! The normal arch is decent. The little strap I could take it or leave it, but lets me know they won't fly off. The sole is tapered and not as much surface area as the Olivia Slingbacks. I'm not sure if that is a contributing factor as to why they are so uncomfortable.I have always loved Crocs and few pairs I have owned, I have loved. Ugly or cute they have all been comfortable. This pair....in a pinch for a few errands is o.k., but not if you plan on being on your feet for a long period of time standing or walking.
