Billabong Women's Shay Flat Sandal Review

I love these sandals! They slide on like a glove and easy to walk in. No sideways slippage like a lot of slides will do, a very custom fit. Amazing dressy yet casual look. I'm super impressed with Billabong and these sandals.

I’ve been wanting new sandals to use for stepping out to the backyard. It’s great to have something to quickly slip into. These look like a good match. They are synthetic rather than leather so I don’t know how they’ll hold up over time. I typically wear 5.5 and sized down to 5.Out of the bag the straps fit loosely. I tightened up the Velcro straps and it fit better. My back heel fits exactly to the back edge so The sandals are probably a tad small for me but a 6 would be a bit big.Walking around the house, the straps feel comfortable and no digging into my skin. The sole of the shoe feels squishy/spongy, especially under my heel which I don’t like. I’d prefer more firmness. The other thing I’ve noticed is that there’s a bit of suction happening under my foot with the shoes. I create a sucking sound as I walk which is annoying. This is likely random that may not happen to everyone. For a casual shoe these are fine but I may still look for something with a better fit.

I love that both straps on these sandals have Velcro and are adjustable. Sometimes my feet get swollen if I'm standing or walking a lot and being able to change the straps keeps these sandals comfortable. The soles are slightly cushy and comfortable for walking around. The color is kind of a pinky orange, maybe salmon and it's bright and fun.

These are so soft and comfortable. Like them so much after wearing them several times, I ordered another color.

These sandals also have a high-quality outsole, also known as, a sole unit. This is the bottom component of these sandals, that provides grip and traction. The outsole is commonly rubber but, here, it’s EVA, short for Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. This differs significantly from dress shoes, which may have leather bottoms.These sandals are the ultimate in lightweight comfort; and this traditional color slides are the perfect color for my outfits. These sandals are fashionable, sturdy, durable, waterproof, and super comfortable, ready for all day/night wear. These are not just another pretty slipper, rather, can be worn indoors or outdoors.These are so nice; we hate to wear these anywhere else but indoors. These are easy to clean. We wipe them down with some powerful bleach alternative wipes without discoloration of any sort. When these finally go, it’s usually because we beat them up too much, and we frantically search for the same pair. Try, you will be glad you did buy. We rate these with two (2) thumbs-up. These sandals are cute and comfortable. I love Birkenstocks and I love this design of sandal. I wasn’t crazy about the color of these in person. And they run a tad bit small, so definitely size up. But I love that the straps are adjustable because I have wider feet. Overall a good sandal definitely recommend.

Color: These are advertised as Dark Beige but they are practically orange in real life. I would call them Dark Rust or Terracotta instead. If you’re looking for a neutral beige, I would keep looking!Material: EVA soles with synthetic leather straps. The leather feels nice and soft. About 4-5 mm of tread.Size: These seem to run small, not true to size. I wear a 10.5-11 size shoe across many brands and yet my feet barely fit in these: my big toe hangs off the side and my heels are on the verge of falling off the back.Quality: The seams don’t feel well designed/assembled, they gap a bit in places and there’s some minor glue residue.The list price on Amazon appears to be $56 at the time of this review. I am not opposed to spending a lot on shoes (my favorite sandals cost twice this amount) but I would not spend more than $20-25 on the product I received.

So, full disclosure: I didn't buy these from Amazon. I went on a cruise with another pair of sandals that were supposedly "wide feet", but after the first day, my poor pinky toes had been squished and blistered. I thought I'd have to wear my sneakers the whole rest of the cruise. Thankfully, one of the shops on the ship had these, and my feet were in pure bliss!! They're supportive and have a little bit of give, and the adjustable straps make it easy to get the best fit. I'm a 6.5, so the 7 fit perfectly. And I love the pop of color. I can't wait to wear these this summer!
