I was very excited to find a more sophisticated ballet flat. Most others on the market feature a giant bow, jewel or some other childish accessory, or are so rounded at the toe that your feet will look stubby and child-like. These shoes, however, are long enough at the toe so that my "toe cleavage" doesn't show (I've got long, slim feet with long toes) and toe itself is squared off just enough. They look great and I got lots of compliments on them.BUT, even though I wore them around the house for days to help break them in and covered the inside heels as well as the over-the-toe section with foam "rub relief" strips, they rubbed terribly the first time I wore them to work. The second time, I added more strips and band aids on the affected areas of my feet and it got even worse. Even putting band aids on top of band aids didn't help, and I wasn't walking all over town, simply from the parking garage to my building and then in between two floors of my building. For over a week after I had to wear sandals because my heels had been rubbed so raw.I don't think it's the sizing; had I gone up a size they would have slipped from my heels with each step. It may be that the stitching in the inside edges is too rough. Maybe with very thin "peds" they could be wearable, but beware if you want to go barefoot in these.
The shoe is painful at the back part. Back part is too high & rubs on my feet. I never got to wear the shoes because of this.
Based on other reviews I took my time deciding on this shoes. First because of someone telling that the color wasn't as expected and the other stating that they are plain and simple torture to endure. I just couldn't believe that 2nd part, since AK is one of my favorites brand of shoes. For me the problem was not the color nor the future torture my feet were suppose to suffer. I thought the color was as expected but the sizing was off. Its not my first AK shoes but this one was a half size bigger that expected. My mom ended loving them and telling me how nice they fit and how confortable they are.Since I like the style so much I adjusted to the sizing difference and ordered a half size number less.
I originally bought these shoes in 2011, they were so comfortable and easy to dress up or down that I wore them nearly everyday!! The major benefit that I find with thees shoes is that they have cloth and soft leather interior - they will not cause chafing!! They also have a very slight heel and a soft footbed to prevent foot fatigue, they have been the most comfortable flats that I've owned. The exterior of the shoe is comprised of a beautiful black matte fabric, they seem to complement any outfit be it skinny jeans or a breezy sundress. So when my shoes were beginning to look worn, I searched for these online and ordered two pair in 2012!! They are that good!
AK is a great brand, I have many nice and confortable shoes from it, but this ones are really unconfortable, the inside lining is made from rough material.
THESE SHOES ARE LOVELY. HOWEVER, I RETURNED THEM SINCE THE "PEWTER" DESCRIPTION WAS NOT ACCURATE IN MY OPINION. I THOUGHT I WAS ORDERING MORE OF A GREY SHOE WHEN WHAT I RECEIVED WAS MORE OF A DARK GOLDISH COLOR.
