Lightweight and great traction

These hiking boots have been absolutely wonderful. In the past, I have hiked in. Chacos or tennis shoes. I have hiked many miles, but I wish that I would have bought these sooner! I did a lot research and was looking for something that would be comfortable, durable, and lightweight. These do not disappoint. I wear a wide size, and there is plenty of room for thick socks, too. They are lightweight, great traction, and waterproof (as long as you do not go higher than the ankle :) ).So far, I have worn these on 3 various terrain trails of 3-5 miles and did a half marathon trail hiking over 4 hours continously. The boots were great suport while crossing creeks, rocks, dirts, and pavement.

very comfortable once they break in

I love Keens - they are always true to size and last forever. The ankles on these are stiff when you first wear them, but they break in quickly. Super comfortable for long hikes

Happy feet!

It's difficult for me to find shoes that fit me well, especially with needing a wider toe box, so I feel compelled to leave a review. My last pair of hiking boots were way too tight in the toe area so I decided to try out Keens. I tried these in both size 8 regular and 8 wide and the 8 regular actually felt more comfortable and roomy through a blind study, go figure! These are very comfortable and roomy and I've walked in them quite a bit through varied terrain, no need to break them in. Live up to being waterproof as well thus far.

Update: took forever to break in

I have had them for a couple weeks and walked about 10 miles in them trying to break them in and get used to them. 1st issue: the toe box is actually not particularly wide. Coming from a pair of Altra hiking shoes, my feet definitely feel cramped. But I was also spoiled with that toe box, so I was willing to overlook that. It's definitely wider than a pair of Merrells. 2nd issue: The right boot has started making a crinkling sound, like the glue is dried out and bad. 3rd issue: The left boot has a weird seam right above the pinky toe that is rough and creates blisters. This is not in the right boot. The right boot feels awesome, just makes a weird sound. For the money, I would have liked a sturdy pair of boots that didn't cause blisters. I think Keen needs to tighten down their manufacturing. The fact that two boots in the same pair to have two very different problems, is concerning.I have a hiking trip coming up that I don't have time to break in a new pair for, So I'm going to wrap my foot, bring some extra glue, and my old Altras for backups. Fingers crossed these hold up in the New Hampshire white mountains.**UPDATE** I took these boots with me to climb Mt. Washington. I wore them as much as possible in the days leading up to the hike. After about 15 miles of wear, they FINALLY were broken in. It was like a switch flipped and they're super comfortable hiking boots now. The weird seam is no longer poking out, and the toe boxes loosened up. They served me quite well on Mt Washington. The soles were super grippy and worked well on wet and slushy rock. When we got into the compacted ice, i added Microspikes and the boots felt very stable with those on as well. I've had hiking boots where spikes felt weird, but felt fine on these. Updating to 4 stars, because I'm still not totally sure about the glue on the one boot. I took it to a bootery and they said it was fine, but without removing the sole they couldn't be 100% sure.I recommend these IF you have the time to break them in THOROUGHLY before your adventure.

Finally.. one that fits

After ordering and returning many many pairs of boots I finally found a pair that fits and is comfy..too be fair I have an invisible bump on one of my feet that has greatly limited my footwear. These were advertised as wide and they are. I have worn them alot! Not being used to the ankle height was the only thing but it honestly didn't take long to get used to that. These boots are fantastic.I wear 2 pairs of socks and still have room without being too tight. But also not too loose.ive worn them in the woods for miles and went ice fishing yesterday. My feet did get slightly chilled after 4 hours but Im not complaining about that. They would have been cold with any boots but I did wear them. Super happy with the boots and actually found an identical pair on marketplace now that I know they fit.. thank you!!!

Great

I agonized over buying new boots and finally chose these. I haven't regretted it. It's been about 3 months and the break in period was short and painfree. The ankle support is really good. The sole is thick, heavy, and not very flexible, which is both good and bad. I got these for a pilgrimage, so I want durability and toughness, yet comfort after regular use. They've been good for that. There is plenty of toe room and the eyelets are metal and sturdy, too. I'm digging these. They've become my favorite hiking boots.

Good ankle support

The one thing that I don’t like is, I don’t like the fact that they keep pushing this green new deal for this boot I’ve been wearing the boot all winter and I live in the far north.I have changed out the insoles twice with Dr. Scholz, and there seems to be a distinct odor even before I put them on needless to say something went awry. Also the side of the medial part of the left shoe cracked that was a disappointment.. but they had a very distinct smell to them which was disturbing and I’m sorry that that happened. The boot was constructed OK, except for the medial left boot, which cracked

Protect from rocks

They are light and wide. Walking on rocky terrain is much easier now. Waterproof. Can put warm socks in winter. Be careful with sizes-they are wide and if the size is too big, the foot will not be fixed inside the boot-kind of sliding around.
