The Goodyear welt construction ensures that the upper is stitched securely to the sole, which not only enhances durability but also allows for resoling, extending the life of your boots. The boot's design is distinctive, with the signature yellow stitching that has become synonymous with Dr. Martens footwear.
Comfort is another significant aspect of these boots. Equipped with the AirWair soles, they offer not just a snug fit but also outstanding cushioning that supports your feet throughout the day. I've been wearing plain black, leather, steel-toed boots for the past five years leading up to this one due to being in the Navy. Recently in my civilian job, there was a company policy requiring steel toes to enter our warehouse passed and I needed something other than my loafers. Enter these bad boys. They are made of durable and rigid leather, so ignore the reviewers griping about how it feels plastic or cheap. If you've ever suffered standard issue mil-spec footwear, you will immediately notice how much better these are. You will spend a week breaking them in before you stop feeling the 'new boots blues'. No matter what method you employ to break them in, you will have to wear them eventually; so it's best to put them on and get them as tight as you physically can in order to encourage the leather to stretch and bend in the right places with your feet and ankles. I find that even though they took longer to break in than most of my other shoes and boots, the material has stretched and settled better than any other pair I've owned. They do not stand out in a data center, office, or industrial environment, and they check all the boxes where I need them to. With a little polish on occasion to keep the leather stained and conditioned, and potentially replacing the sole a long ways off in the future; I would gamble that these boots will keep me happy for many years.NOTE: There is a tag sewn into the insole stating that these boots are not safety footwear. If your job requires you to have boots made to satisfy the requirements of ASTM F2413-11, these aren't for you boss.
what else is there to say? they're doc martens. i've had other pairs and to be honest, i don't even remember what model number i had or whether or not they were steel-toe... i wore them until they fell apart. i don't really have any complaints or i wouldn't have bought a new pair.i don't know if these were manufactured in the UK or china or in timbuktu. all shoes have a break-in period. all products have the potential to have a manufacturing problem. many major companies out-source their manufacturing to other places. i don't know that this means quality is compromised. these are still doc martens and they still need to pass QA.so... to sum up. if you wear a pair of shoes every day and you do everything in them, chances are they aren't going to last you as long as a pair of shoes you wear every other day or shoes that you wear for certain engagements. running shoes are supposed to be replaced more often than normal everyday tennis shoes. why? because that break-in period breaks the functionality of the shoe. they might be super comfortable to wear after a year but you shouldn't wear them running. whether these shoes are labeled as "rugged steel toed" construction boots or not, if you work in that industry, then you know that those kinds of shoes are certified to pass certain guidelines. and i doubt that you would find any construction worker looking to wear dr. martens steel toe boots as part of their work attire.these are great boots. they look great. they are solid and sturdy and they most certainly are the classic.
I bought these to replace an identical pair that I've been wearing for ten years. I got the old ones in London, and they were made in England. This new pair was made in China. They have changed...some for the good and some for the bad. There is now more toe room, which I like. However, both heel pads were ill fitted and loose. I had to trim them and stick them back in with super glue. I'm starting to really break them in now and I think I'll love them for years to come. They provide good ankle support and keep my feet warm. Buyer beware that these boots come very very stiff, and will take time to break in. When I first get them, I just wear them around the house occasionally until I can actually wear them out for a bit. If you try to wear them too long when you first get them, they will most definitely wear blisters on your feet. Break them in slowly and you'll have a wonderfully comfortable pair of boots to last a long time.
These boots are murder to break in. I had to wear bandages and band aids on my feet to avoid getting sores for the first month I wore them. Now they are broken in and I love them. I wear them to the warehouse every day and I they are very comfortable, I don't want to wear anything else. I like them so much I ordered another pair in a different color. Looking forward to those arriving at the house.
Bought these for work since we need safety for shoes and since docs last forever and fit great & are super comfortable I went with these
