I love these boots! Fit great and comfortable. I use them for light work and they work perfect.
Very comfortable, good looking boot. I have had these for a few weeks and they are already broken in well. The only complaint that I have is that the color was not as dark as I thought they were.
The biggest advantage I've found with these boots are the fact that they offer some of the better toe box room that I've ever had out of numerous different brands of boots, they almost look like steel toed boots in size and appearance without having the reduced internal toe box from the inserts. These are now replacing my Carhartt Romeo boots which even though they were physically bigger and longer had much more pointed toes that were really starting to cramp and rub my poor toes. The biggest flaw I've found in these are the pull loops, the two in front are pretty much useless and only the left boot rear loop is big enough to fit a finger into (the right boot rear loop I can't even fit my pinky finger into) so I've had to improvise with using a carabiner clip to make pulling that one on easier. The only other downside I find in them are the non-removable insoles, which in and of themselves are reasonably comfortable and a little spongy. I do have fairly high arches though so I'm probably going to need to get some ultra thin insoles or some partial length insoles to compensate for that since even with the ample toe room I wouldn't count on a thicker insole leaving enough room afterwards.Past that I ordered these in a size 13, where I normally vary between a size 12 and size 13 in wide to extra wide, and the fit was actually decent for being a medium width. They were tight around the ball of my feet (ie the widest part), however the leather began stretching and conforming fairly nicely after even a few hours of wear and has continued to improve in the last couple days of wearing and with the addition of some shoe/boot oil. The instep on these (ie the front of the ankle and top of the foot area) was fairly generous, only a little snug when I first wore them and is now quite comfortable. The heels were fine and make a nice "pop" when pulling the boots on and have enough slip in them while walking so the heels don't end up rubbing. The appearance isn't as attractive as many other slip on ankle boots that are out there, however it's good enough and with the above positives and negatives I really couldn't complain much since I at least have a more comfortable boot. All in all at the price of $57.50 I couldn't see docking it down to 3 stars even though it didn't quite measure up to a full 4 stars.
I really like these boots, comfortable and great looking. They were a bit too light in color for me so I applied a darker brown polish and now look great
These boots are pretty good. I was trying to find something in the style of Blundstones or Redbacks, but cheaper, and these boots basically fit that bill. There are a couple of things that I'm not uber-happy about, though: 1) the way the elastic is set up makes it so that your heel comes up a bit as you walk, and so after wearing them a full day, the back of my heel is raw... 2) I don't know why they stitched those strips of leather over the elastic gore. They look cheesy there. Just let the elastic show! 3) I prefer to have a sole of a different color than the upper (like Dr Martens). The sole of these boots matches the uppers perfectly, so there is no contrast. I just sort of think that makes them not as cool looking as I want them to be...None of these are absolute deal breakers, though, so I'd say these aren't too bad of a buy...EDIT (02/08/2013). I've been wearing these boots all winter (South Bend, Indiana), and I have a few additional comments. 1) they hold up to the weather great. I haven't waterproofed them, but they are pretty water repellent on their own. That's a major plus. 2) About the fit. I've discovered that the fit is greatly improved by wearing thicker-than-normal socks. I bought a few pairs of "boot socks". This prevents the "rubbing" at the back of the heel. 3) These boots look GREAT with dark, boot-cut jeans. The styling has grown on me for this context. They look pretty good with straight-legged dark khakis/chinos (grey, green, brown, black etc.). The key is the boot-cut/straight-leg and the dark color. If you try to wear them with light colored pants and/or with a tapered/relaxed leg, they just look kind of goofy. The cuff of the pant catches on the pull and it looks like you don't know how to put on your pants. The all-black color of the boots really looks bad with light colors (tan khaki's, or light blue jeans). In the right context, however, I now think these boots can look really good, and I'm more happy with my purchase now than I was at first. I've upgraded my revieww from three to four stars!EDIT (06/09/2014). Another year gone, another winter past, and this time, several Arctic Vortexes to boot! These boots held up through all of that. I moved to Pittsburgh, PA, and wore these boots every day this winter. PGH is a great city, but man, do they not take care of their roads and sidewalks! Potholes, loose gravel, ice, salt, ankle-deep puddles! These boots took them all in stride, and kept my feet warm and dry without making me look like a dork or a mountaineering guide. I'm packing up my apartment now, getting ready for a move back down to sunny Phoenix Arizona where I started out two years ago. I picked up these boots, and thought "should I pack these away really deep with all my other winter gear?". Nope. I love these boots so much that I think I'll even wear them in the Arizona "winter"! Even if I have to sweat a little doing it! I'm upgrading my review to four stars!
I have a homestead, spent 10 hours day one in these boots, and l'm impressed. I have wide feet, and sketchers for the most part runs wide, so i thought id try these boots out. This shoe was a great fit for me and very comfortable.Safetywise, The boot is puncture resistant. I stepped on several boards with exposed nails, and nothing penetrated. I wouldnt recommend tap dancing on nails sticking straight up, but for the most part, i could feel when i stepped on a nail and nothing broke through. I stepped on at least 10-15 boards with exposed nails while ripping down a rotted chicken coop, and my feet are intact.Construction - These are not steeltoe, but the shoe is sturdy and well made. On traction, I easily climbed ladders and walked on a slanted metal roof and never felt unstable. I did not slip or lose traction while walking.Overall i really like this boot. My feet do not feel tired or sore. I work a 5 acre property and these are definitely in my rotation now for working around the house.
not that comfy for walking. Real stiff and heavy. I don't enjoy them at all.
