The Frye Billy Inside Zip Booties are a stunning blend of heritage craftsmanship and modern style. Crafted from antiqued pull-up leather, these booties showcase intricate Wellington stitchwork and piping that speaks volumes about their quality. Product | Material | Shaft Height | Closure |
---|---|---|---|
Frye Billy Inside Zip Booties | Antiqued Pull-Up Leather | 5 ¾” | Inside Zip |
Steve Madden Women's Ankle Boots | Synthetic | 5” | Side Zip |
Dr. Martens 2976 Chelsea Boots | Leather | 5” | Slip-On |
The Frye Billy Inside Zip Booties offer a unique combination of style and functionality. The antiqued pull-up leather not only looks great but also provides durability that can withstand daily wear. The Goodyear welt construction adds an extra layer of robustness, making these booties a worthwhile investment.
In terms of style, the modern Western design is versatile enough to be paired with both casual and more formal outfits. The inside zipper allows for easy wear and adds a contemporary touch, while the 1 ½” heel gives just the right amount of elevation without compromising comfort.
However, it's essential to note that some users might experience a break-in period, as the leather can feel stiff initially. Additionally, while they come at a premium price point, the quality and heritage behind the Frye brand justify the investment for many customers.

Purchased Cognac and Red in these boots intending to return the color I didn’t like as much...and I love them both. The toe is just ever so slightly pointed which makes them chic and still super comfortable and practical. They are a bit looser fit than the Sacha and a slightly looser fit In general so I wouldn’t say tts for Frye - but I would not recommend a whole size down. I usually wear a 6.5 in Frye boots, ordered a 6.5, and I am so pleased that they’re just a bit looser than the usual snug fit.The red is super soft leather, I love the color. It’s more of a Ruby/wine than red red. The dark edges on the cognac version are rubbing off. It’s clearly a polish on the boot not the finish of the actual leather. This color will require a bit more TLC and polishing etc, but the leather is high quality and worth spending some time to treat and maintain.
These appear distressed in the photos, but aren't. The color and finish were exactly what I was looking for. They are initially very hard to get on, and feel too small. However after walking in them for a couple of hours, they loosened up and feel like Frye boots. I always use cedar shoe trees to maintain all my shoes and have already inserted a pair in these. So while I initially thought they were too small, they're true to size and comfortable.
I like the fit - ordered a 5.5 and that fit perfectly! The construction is solid and the sueded leather is very good looking. This pair also has a slight arch support and that makes it extremely comfortable for me. If you are looking for a dressy boot - these are worth looking at!
Style of the boots was very nice looking along with the color but the boots were like Super hard plastic made in Mexico, they didn't have any give room to even put on your feet even when you get a bigger sz. Like 2 sizes up they were the same because I tried more then once because I liked the style. I have other boots made by frye that are very nice but those others made in Mexico are just hard plastic i had to send them but 2x
Finally a pair that fit! True to size. Bought 8.5 my regular boot size. Pretty easy on, just snug enough. Zippers worked normally. Love the color and suede.
These boots were true to size for me as a 7 on my left foot and a 6 1/2 on my right foot - I put a little heel insert stick on on the right which made them both fit perfectly. I wore them with medium thickness socks for the best fit. I traveled with them for a month for work in Europe. I needed nice versatile shoes. I was sore the first few days, but after that they were fabulous. I wore them with dresses of various formality, and with differnt colored jeans that were cut short. The quality is amazing and the leather is wonderful. I highly recommend these boots. I’m so happy I took a risk on these. They feel like forever boots. I rarely wore the other boots or shoes I brought with me. I don’t have pictures of a lot of the different Jean outfits but you get the point. They were very expensive for me, but worth it.
Beautiful boot but tight around the ankle.
I wear size 7, I ordered one size up and it’s perfect! Kinda tight at first but super comfy. I ordered another one in a different color. Classy looking, I love it so much.
