Inspired by the streets they're worn on: Dr. Martens reworked their classic silhouettes through a contemporary, urban lens. These boots are comfortable from the first step. The 8-eye Combs is based on our Original 1460 lace up boot, and comes with amplified Docs DNA: scripting that extends from the heel loop all the way down the heel cap. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Needed some combat boots for a trip to the west coast and I LOVE these. I didn’t have time to break them in before the trip and was worried they would cause a lot of pain but they were perfect. I didn’t experience any pain or soreness and I walked all around San Francisco and through the airport on a cross country trip with no problem. They are also SO cute and great add to my wardrobeThe only thing I would say is that the sizing can be a little hard. I am an 8.5 and the other comments said order down so I ordered a 7 and they feel fine but I probably could have sized down even further. Anyway with regular socks they are fine and with thicker socks they are perfect so I still feel good about the purchase!
So I was considering the more expensive doc martens, which have better leather and are secured overall better, proably for longer durability, not that these are bad. These boots are very edgy and militaristic. They also have almost no break in time, supposedly something that is really bad on the more expensive ones. I use them for everyday use and for work in the kitchen. They have really good grip if you want to use them in a slippery environment and they are comfortable to wear. I like locking them around my feet so they feel super secure. If you are wondering, I am able to kick and somewhat run, like the military guys if you know what I mean. Such a good purchase.
I am using my husband’s Amazon account.I bought at first size 7women/5 men because my regular US size is 7, too big. I replaced wit size 6 Women/5 men; it was kind of ok, could probably wear; however, wanted to try size 5 women/4 men. And this is it; I decided to keep size 5 women/4 men; I feel them better right size but with silky socks; they are kind of narrow from side to side.I am going to wear on my two weeks trip, will update 😊
One of my biggest regrets was having to toss my old docs from college, which were not salvageable after being my primary footwear from 1996-2000. Now, I have the exact same pair, and love them. The only reason I give 4 stars is because I don’t look as cool as I did 25 years ago when wearing them.
I originally ordered a size 8 womens (I wear an 8.5 women’s, but that size was out of stock) and even the size 8 was a waayy too big. So I returned and got a size 7 womens and they fit perfect! I love them they’re a great fall/winter staple
Super cute and comfy. Quick delivery. They were also on sale! Did not need to break them in
Just worn then once and still breaking then in. Bit thighs after following reviews advice, and my own experience with the brand. I'm a 91/2 or 10 in some shoes so I ordered a 9 and seems bit smaller than others that I've gotten in the past. Still love them though.
These boots are comfortable and are true to size.
