When considering the Dr. Martens Unisex 1460 Greasy Leather 8 Eye Boot, it's essential to understand its multifaceted appeal. Firstly, the leather is a standout feature; it’s not just about aesthetics but also functionality. The matte finish provides a sophisticated look without compromising on durability. You’ll appreciate how the leather becomes more supple and gains character with each wear, reflecting your personal journey.
The comfort factor cannot be overstated. Dr. Martens’ AirWair technology ensures that your feet will feel cushioned even after hours on your feet. Whether you’re walking through the city or standing at work, these boots provide the support you need.
However, many newcomers to Dr. Martens may find the initial break-in period challenging. Plan accordingly, as your feet will need some time to adjust to the sturdiness of the leather and design. Despite this minor drawback, the overall durability and long-lasting nature of these boots make it worth the effort.
In terms of versatility, the 1460 Greasy boot shines brightly. They can easily transition from casual outings to more formal settings, allowing for various styling options. Pair them with jeans for a laid-back vibe or dress them up with tailored trousers – the choice is yours.

This review is for the Black Greasy, Vietnam-made 8-hole boot. I wear a US size 10 in nearly every shoe on the market, and ordered a UK 9/US 10 male for this boot. They fit perfectly; maybe a little roomy in width but that is much better than too tight in a boot like this. They appear excellently made, look perfect, and are by far the most comfortable pair of Doc's I've ever encountered just out of the box. I think this is my fourth or fifth pair over the years, ranging from the early '90s through 2015, so I have some experience with this type of boot. I was able to get an excellent deal through an Amazon third-party seller (about $20 less than the Dr. Marten's website price, and free shipping) and am very happy with the boots and the purchase in general.
These boots are classic and after all these years, still made well and fit well. I had to return them, unfortunately, but the seller was easy to work with and the process was quick, which I appreciated.
I had just bought the Dr. Martens Men's Sussex Work Boot and loved the fit. But I kept nurturing this secret love affair with the 1460 and its yellow stitching. I had to have it, and figured the fit would be at least as comfortable as the Sussex. I wasn't wrong. I'm so happy with these boots. They will be a daily wear for me this winter and I'll wear the Sussex when I need something a bit more dressy, like with slacks. The 1460 go perfectly with a pair of black skinny stretch jeans and an oversize black shirt. The "greasy black" leather is so soft and feels great as it conforms to my foot. These boots are really light weight and can be worn for long periods, like all day. The soft leather, I doubt would be suitable as literal WORK boots like out in the elements. Get some Red Wings or Rock Roosters for that. If and when my beloved 1460s wear out, I'll just get another pair. I might try another color before that happens though. They offers so many options... you gotta just keep buying them! It is a classic look and suitable for anybody.
These are typical Docs. I bought this pair for my son for his birthday and he's worn them every day since, and that's over 6 months ago at the time I'm writing this review. I own several pair of Docs of my own. I've never been disappointed in any of them. Like almost all Dr. Marten's products, they run a little big. My son is extremely hard on shoes and Docs hold up for him better than anything else he's ever owned. These still look practically new even though he wears them every day and wears them to work. I bought the Black Greasy & they've never let me down. I own 2 pair of them myself in addition to this pair I bought for him. If you love Docs, you shouldn't be without a pair of Black Greasys.
Really cool looking and confortable shoes, however I haven/t walked much distance in them. The soles (the outsoles) are indeed very cushiony! I got the "greasy" finish which seems to feel softer than the "smooth" finish.I wear size 9 1/2 US medium in most shoes, so I got these in size 9 Medium US. They do seem a little loose in the width, so I hope they don't stretch out much more as they break in.Mine are made in Thailand, but the construction and materials seem great. But they are based on a classic model shoe, so they are not high tech...except for maybe the airsoles and the Goodyear Welt construction.
I'VE RECEIVED SO MANY COMPLIMENTS ON THESE BOOTS. THEY ARE TRUE TO SIZE AND VERY COMFORTABLE. IM REALLY HOOKED ON DOC'S AND PLANNING TO PURCHASE SERVERAL DIFFERENT STYLES IN THE FUTURE
The leather fights back, but worth the few days of pain. After that, I think that they are more comfortable than any running shoe (to wear casually). I have wanted these for 25 years, and could not afford them until now. I feel I can re-live my 90's stone temple pilot and soundgarden grungy life on one end, feel that they are rugged enough to hike with, and after a shoeshine, I can wear with a nice shirt and jeans. Again......be patient with breaking them in.....its worth it in about a week.
I bought these back in 2018 and they still look the same as they did when I bought them. They did take a little bit of breaking in at first. I have slender feet and I have to wear a sturdy sock with these to not get a bit of rubbing. They are heavy, but in a good sturdy way. They are a classic look and work great for a cool or rainy day.
