Other Brand B | Leather | Zipper | Medium |
The Ariat Unisex-Child Scout Zip Paddock Boot excels across several aspects crucial for young riders. Firstly, the comfort level is commendable, thanks to the elastic twin goring that allows for ample movement without sacrificing support. This feature is particularly beneficial during riding sessions or walks around the stable.
When considering durability, Ariat delivers yet again. The full-grain leather construction ensures that these boots can handle rough usage and remain intact despite frequent wear. The antique brass zipper also adds a touch of elegance while being functional.
Design-wise, the sleek black finish makes it a versatile choice that pairs well with both casual and riding attire. However, potential buyers should note that these boots may feel slightly narrow for wider feet, so it's advisable to try them on if possible.
In terms of overall performance, the boot's rubber sole provides excellent grip, making it suitable for various terrains. Although they are not waterproof, they perform pleasantly well in dry conditions.

I bought these for my 9 year old after a pair of cheap tuff riders disintegrated after only a few uses. I figured the real leather would be more durable. These are great boots, she took them to horse camp for 2 weeks where is rained almost every day, and they the material and seams are still unscathed. I used the size chart on the ariat website which indicated my daughter was a size 3, they looked so big compared to her other shoes but we kept them as we didn’t have time to return and she broke them in nicely and said they are more comfortable then when she first got them. I’m glad I didn’t exchange them. I think they are meant to fit a little larger then a typical shoe
So Glad we read reviews and opted for these boots vs. a cheaper version. I purchased them a size up so she can grow into them. They fit well, super quality and our daughter said they are super comfortable for her while she wears them around the barn and for riding lessons. We just have to be sure she wears high socks that go over the top of the boot so the back and front do not rub. They are beautiful and really a pair of boots she will love and use for the next two years and then pass along to another little girl!
My daughter really loves these. We’ve used less expensive boots in the past; you can immediately see and feel the difference in quality.
Edit 1/18/21: Just buy these! Pair 4 or 5...I’ve lost count. I’ve passed all but one down to younger friends. The one pair blew out on the side after extensive use (7 days a week +1 year) and I had to throw them out to force her to wear the new ones. Lol. Don’t waste your time on cheaper boots unless your little late just ride 1-2x a month and never walk around in them. These are the bomb for comfort, wear, and style in the show ring, however. DD pairs these daily with Perri’s suede half chaps (also the only chaps I buy - I run them through the washer) and she’s comfy. She rides @5 days a week and sometimes 2 lessons a day, long show days, or clinics. This is the 3rd pair of paddocks boots I've purchased for my 7 yr old daughter. The first two were a much less expensive, leather brand with laces. She has a small, narrow foot for her age and the other boots occasionally rubbed hot spots or blisters. I ordered 5 pair of boots from Amazon and these arrived a few days before all the others. She tried them on and that was it. Perfect! I canceled the orders for other boots and they were rerouted back to Amazon and I never had to deal with sending them back myself. I love that!!! I sprayed them with Kiwi Camp Dry waterproofing, as I do all of her boots (allows me to just rinse them quickly in the sink when they're muddy), and she wore them the next day to camp for 6 hrs. She declared them "awesome!" and they've never hurt, are easier to get on with the zipper (they run wider than her other boots so thicker socks helped that), and are well-worth 2x the price of the cheaper boots. They have an insole more like an athletic shoe, have a more flexible rubber sole, and keep my kid happy during a long day at camp. All good things!
Other than that they run a full size large, these are amazing boots. I'm on a women's pistol team and out running around in the dirt, heat, and sometimes in the mud, and these are comfortable, sturdy, attractive and neat - as in no superfulous gewgaws. Put them on, zip them up the front, go play. Perfect heel height, roomy but not sloppy toe box, excellent leather. Note to grown-ups: if you wear a women's size 5, order the 2 (not the 3). The kids size 3 here corresponds to a 5.5 to 6 in women's. And these kids shoes are cheaper than the women's.
These are great, comfortable, and durable. I didn't know that you can remove the insole once the boot gets too small for my daughter's feet so that it'll last longer. I do not doubt these will be able to go from my oldest to her younger sisters because they are excellent quality.
Works as expected for my daughter. Slightly nicer than the Tuffrider brand which we’ve also used over the years.
I wonder about the sizing. 12yo wears size 5 shoe. After ordering that size, and two others we finally found size 3 fit. It took more time than I wanted to spend dealing with it. However, the free return shipping made it all worth it!
